2012 is so differnt though.
Scientists have predicted it through equasions. I think I saw something on TV that said McKenna did too. But I might have misheard it. I was going back and forth between the tv and the shroomery.

No they haven't.  Scientists do not know the future.

At least the idiots with 2000 had something real to worry about.  The idiots (your word, not mine) with 2012 don't even have computer glitches as an excuse.

I'm not trying to be a jerk... you asked for my thoughts, and these are they.  I just don't see why we should believe in 2012 when history shows literally thousands of end of world predictions that have all failed.  In the 80's and 90's it was Nostradamus that couldn't possibly be wrong.  Now it is the Myans.  After 2012, somebody will pick the next prognosticator to predict that end of the wold... again, somebody that cannot be wrong... and guess what, I won't believe them either, most likely.

Tibetan Monks are using Remote Viewing to predict the future. Between now and 2012 the world super powers will continue to engage in regional wars. Terrorism and covert war will be the main problem. In world politics something will happen in and around 2010. At that time the world powers will threaten to destroy each other. The year in question begins in a fantastic way, and let the force be with you. This might be one of the most outstanding coming years. The "final truth" is coming from far away.
2007 is the year of prophecy at its very best
The veil of lies will be lifted and the truth - nothing but the truth and the full truth - will be seen.
As 2007 draws to its close on 12/12, a once in a millennium (understatement) alignment occurs: Excessive net worker Jupiter triggers Pluto, overlord of trans-formation and super avatar of change in the point known as the 'galactic center'. This can only mean space time travel, and things transcendental. I expect a new cosmology to manifest at that time, more inter-stellar type mathematics of time, and I look forward to a creed of justice and a belief in the zero point field called GOD. 2008 is a new beginning - a ONE and an earthy energy type of year at that - with Jupiter & Pluto in Capricorn (ruled by Saturn), and Saturn in Virgo (ruled by Mercury). Things become more grounded, more 'real'. It is also a year of 'no-nonsense'.
The USA will see by Summer of 2008 the equivalent of a workers' revolt, or a class war, as the status quo of the plutocracy 'democracy' will be challenged to the very end.
The structures will begin to crumble and a new society will start to emerge, but only really see the light of day in 2012-2013 when Neptune is in Pisces, assisting Pluto in Capricorn.
The North Node of Earth's Destiny meets with Neptune at 24 degrees Aquarius in early May and with Chiron a month later, a couple degrees further back, saying the same. That is a spectacular alignment, again one in a millennium.

We will start to figure out the invisible world then, as unusual things will start to transpire by the time Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Chiron, and Neptune meet in Aquarius...
Mars treks in militant if not military or warlike manner through Capricorn, conjunct the sun and Pluto early 2009, between life and death, giving 2009 a distinct ambitious mode.
I see 2009 as the year of the aliens
The year 2009 is also profoundly hopeful, or upbeat with Chiron, Jupiter, and Neptune in humanitarian Aquarius, giving faith for a global or Cosmic one world solution, which will need alien or extra-terrestrial help or intervention, seen or unseen. 2009 is also a time of great technological discoveries. Some of them will have a practical meaning for the future, as they could imply free energy and a more democratically accessible distribution of resources.

years lasting challenging alignments are very ponderous and shock absorbing, such as Pluto, Saturn, and Uranus - the latter one in fact is known for dishing it out.
One could say that thusly 2010 is the Alpha-Omega year of transition, where the old will end and the new will begin.
The visitors will be more and more frequent and they will teach us very advanced things that we had forgotten, because we all tend to discard the fact that we all came from the stars, yet this knowledge will start to become commonplace as we near the moment of the crossing into the 5th world at the end of 2012...

2011 begins with the moon moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius, as it did on the 1999-2000 'Y2K'switch... but on a dose of great optimism, while Jupiter, wise ruler of far seeing Sagittarius moves through the mutable and last degrees of Pisces, conjunct and in tandem with Uranus. There is synchronisation at work as 2011 opens to a new Cosmic reality and people will have to wake up or go to sleep forever as the Matrix veils fall away.
Neptune-Uranus in mutual reception mean that potentially people will see the invisible world and understand the message from afar.
We will see in 2011 that an oversoul type first cause, or original source, aka 'God', is linked by an energy or motion, call it time and spirit, to all the little souls on earth where past present and future meet in one great gateway to Cosmos. There will be an upgrading of awareness going on, and whatever happens in the real world, it will be meaningful and suggest a new understanding of very ancient and fragmented wisdom. Major discoveries will be made while Uranus and Jupiter are in Aries, and these breakthroughs will change the future of earthlings for the better.
2011 is technologically speaking not for fainthearted - and these little aliens will have a say in it too. You can rest assured of it and you want to well prepared mentally and spiritually to see through the "techno-spiritual paradigm" as 2011 become the famous 2012...

Ok Cubie you say you're open to questions, so do you have a reference to the Web-bot?

McKenna was using the Mayan Long Count Calendar, he just superimposed the King Wen sequence of the I Ching over it to describe the logarithmic function of the count down...

Do you have any verifiable references to 2012 prophecies not associated with the Maya?

It seems most people are just making stuff up to sell books and web page ad space.

I've been studying 2012 since 1996 and I've heard many stories, but have found no references to 2012 in any ancient culture besides the Tortuguero Monument #6...

This is it. The term following uht-oom is the main puzzle, and largely
effaced. The "descent" reference is highly tentative, too. The
enigmatic deity Bolon Yookte' K'uh has been known for some time
from many sources, and I suspect that he (or they) has some tangential
relationship to the Principal Bird Deity, as well as war associations.
Interestingly, he is a protagonist in the deep time mythology of
Palenque, as recorded on Palenque's Temple XIV tablet. A
long-lasting character who's still around somewhere waiting, I suppose.



One thing about Bolon Yokte's presence in the 2012 text should be emphasized. Apart from symbolizing war, conflict, and the underworld, Bolon Yokte is a god that is often present during Creation events, often referring to the Creation event of 13.0.0.0.0 in 3114 BC, and most notably on the Vase of the Seven Lords. So, what does it mean that a Creation Lord is present on the next 13.0.0.0.0, the one that falls in 2012 AD? Although some scholars have commented that the incomplete text on Tortuguero Monument 6 doesn't tell us much, they have overlooked the obvious: Bolon Yokte's mere presence suggests that 2012 was thought of as a Creation, a worldrenewal that, after all, makes perfect sense in the context of a World Age doctrine that sequences forward in intervals of 13 baktuns. This may seem to go without saying, but in fact my work has been criticized for characterizing 2012 as a "cosmogenesis." Here the scholars are one step closer to understanding 2012 for what the Maya knew it to a be: a rebirth and the beginning of a new World Age.

So, specific prophecy with content for future events are rare in hieroglyphic texts. This may explain why there is a dearth of hieroglyphic texts on 2012—one of the main complaints about my theory. For whatever reason, our expectation that there should be such texts is thus pegged as an erroneous assumption; such a dearth is the norm. This may reveal a Mayan conceptualization of past and future as non-local realities that collapse always in the present moment. We see this in the shifting tense usages when Maya folktales are told. It was, it will be, it is—these temporal locations are interchangeable in mythic time, the space of "everything manifests in the now."

Most of it is just people making up theories to sell books...

I'm in between the "fluffernauts" that believe everything they read and the materialist fundamentalists that don't believe anything about it.

As in the above post, there is only ONE prophecy about 2012 that I have found that is etched in stone.
The funny thing is that the glyph that says exactly what's going to happen is eroded. (or erased)

All the claims about the Great Pyramid calendar, Hopi prophecy, Nostradamus, Bible Code, Photon belt, Omega Point etc. are either completely unsubstantiated or have nothing to do with 2012, and really are only there to $ell books.

IMO, people like to believe big changes are going to happen for them or to them without doing any of the transformational work themselves.
It's the same mentality as thinking Jesus or Muhammad did everything for us and all we need to do is blindly believe.

Studies of Grof, Leary, Watts, RA Wilson, and Gurdjieff are a much better use of time than indulging in all the "New Age foo-foo" out there which only serves as a distraction from Practical Work on Self. But that's just my opinion...

Right on. I would bet $1,000 that something substantial is going to happen before 2013,
whether it's UFO disclosure, an asteroid impact, a 10th planet flyby, or an extraordinary Solar Maxima isn't important.

What's important is how we prepare ourselves for the changes, why aren't there more books about that?

Oh right, those books don't $ell because people don't like being told that they have work to do...

no one ever acknowledges the astrological side of this whole thing. It's the completion of a number of trajectories that will result in a complete planetary alignment that hasnt occurred in thousands and thousands of years. So as far as predicting that on that date something will happen, i see that as physical evidence that the planets will align on that day. The fact that you can map the orbits of planets is good enough for predictions IMO.
