synchronicity..

I'm wondering what all your thoughts are on integrating a synchronistic experience. My whole day today has been a strange vortex of signs and bizarreness, and I'm wondering what your thoughts are on this.

A) don't analyze it too much, just know that it is a sign that you are going in the right direction
B) you should do some thinking on to what it may mean and how to incorporate it into previous knowledge, as if it was like a dream or salvia trip
C) try and recreate the same effect

Generally, I make a mental(or physical) note of a synchronicity, and see if it has some meaning later. For example, I once saw a license plate that said "321 DAY." I interpreted it as a sign that something significant was going to happen on that day. It did indeed turn out to be significant day. A co-worker of mine who had been in the hospital with pneumonia for months returned to work that day, and we ended up working closely together in the same department.

I had another synchronicity recently with the number "303." I saw it on a license plate in front of me in traffic, and then looked at a gas station next to it, which had $3.03 as one of the gas prices. I again interpreted this as a significant date for me. I'll have to wait and see if I'm right.

There are other recurring synchronicities I get with my watch that don't seem as significant except for the fact that they keep popping up. I keep getting times with repeats of the same number(such as 11:11 or 4:44). Also, the time 7:17(my birthday) keeps popping up, as does 9:11. For those who think I'm just looking for these, you should know that I rarely catch 4:20.

Usually, I just enjoy synchronicities for their own sake. They're part of the trippiness of life.

For instance,

let's say i've been looking for a sign that it is time once again to do mushrooms. A couple days ago, a friend tells me he's got mushrooms and he wants to do them. It didn't work out that night and I wasn't feeling it. Today, a very kind and wise old lady who happens to be waiting for the same bus as me tells me that it is important to purge once in a while, to detoxify.

Now, I didn't go to her with the intention of getting permission, to ask "what do you think of purging" and you have to think about the way she is looking at you and the unexpectedness of the situation and so on.

Do you see this kind of thing as wrapped up in inevitability?

edit: ya silversoul, 11:11 and 9:11 were big for me too for a while, haven't really been noticing them lately. for some reason i think these are anchoring numbers, telling you that there is some grounding to do

1111, yeah. Ever since Evan's post a little while back I've been seeing it everywhere.

One day standing on the sidewalk watching the cars past, I saw the number 42 on about twenty license plates in the span of about a minute and a half.

222

322 (my birthday)

My dad and I always used to see the number 666 on license plates.

The song "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Coffee induces intense feelings of synchronicity.

421 is a very common one for me. It is sort of the halfway point between my birthday and my sister's. Mine is 3/22, hers is 5/20. I had an acid trip on 4/21 where I felt like a girl I know and have strong feelings for devoured me. By God it was the most Yin experience of my entire life. Then somebody made a post the next day about how his soulmate had embodied the goddess Kali and devoured him perfectly and deliciously. I resonated with that a lot, moreso when other things unfolded later.

Other synchronicities for me involve wine, midnight, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the name Tom (the person I had my second LSD trip and first ego loss trip with), China and Germany, and a bunch of other stuff.

It's all meaningless. Everything is open for interpretation. You make the concepts.

I don't necessarily think it's always meaningless. But you shouldn't try to over-analyze the meaning. If there's a meaning, it will come to you. For me, an important part of a synchronicity is the connection between an external event and an internal intuition. So, go with your intuition on it. If it seems significant, go with it(but don't bet the farm on it).

Well I don't know. Meaningless is just a concept, as is its opposite. I guess what I mean (heh) is that synchronicity is consciousness trying to prod itself to awaken, but the means doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the state of awakening itself. It's like the Zen master hitting his student with a stick, or the Zen master making a really good joke that the student is too self-important to laugh at.

i don't think i understand booby.. malicious prank by whom? if you are refering to the old lady in my story.. she was full of compassion and laughter, i could see the soul in her eyes - she was like The Oracle in the matrix, no joke. definitely not a malicious character.

it's important to connect to each other through as much media as possible. :thumbup:

experiment with language to find effective ways of condensing meaning to a small amount of words.

questions, paradoxes, and koans work well because they get people to think.

also be sure to write only on the light border of your bills so you do not deface them.
