hey guys i just got my first pins on my Puerto Rican Cakes... its been about 3-5 days, not exactly sure

one of them has a lot, the biggest pin is about an 1/2 to 1 inch....

but my question is why are all the pins growing on the bottom of the cake where the verm layer is.... i dont see any pins on the sides or the top.... i see a lot of knots on the bottom part of the sides tho... i dunked in a mild Peroxide solution of water like 1-100 for 12 hours before i birthed...

My cat would say that yours is definitely a moisture issure, especially isnce it's growing from the Vermiculite layer. If you want your cake to be more picturesque, you could (very carefully) flip it over so the vermiculite is on top. That might also allow any pins forming underneath the cake to make it to maturity. Of couse if you have a low humidity in your chamber, it will make the vermiculite dry out more quickly. It's a toss-up.

ya its deffinatley a moisture problem... i lifted the cake from the tin foil square and there was condensation.. im just gonna leave em how they are and see how they end up
