wrong LC ingredients??

i purchased both malt extract agar and potato dextrose agar the other day from spore works and am not sure if they are right. I followed the recipe in the archive entitled "High quality liquid culture" http://www.shroomery.org/9378/High-Quality-Liquid-Culture-Step-by-Step which called for 1 tbls of both Malt and Potato Dextrose per 12 cups. But none of the recipes i have seen have agar in the name, and when i tried to make the lc it formed a congealed thick liquid when it cooled, almost like hair gel and was impossible to filter. Are these the wrong ingredients?

agar and LC are two different things. plz use the search or check out the teks and read more carefully. the malt and dextrose for lc is fine but agar is for isolation.

i seen potato dextrose and malt extract and just assumed it was the right things, oh well quess ill bring ol karo back off the bench

ive never used potato dextrose but you do need dextrose and light malt. Try them out and let us know how it goes.

thanx alot for the replys man, just stopped by my local beer brewing supply store and picked up the right ingredients and am about to brew it up, also picked up a brown ale brewing kit, i think i might have just found me a new hobby.. hells yea
