Hmm... I don't see anything like it in my book.

I love identification mysteries, but only when they are eventually solved

It reminds me of Crepidotus genus. Crepidotus mollis can be very variable in cap surface color and texture. Check pictures on these pages:

Good ID. Certainly the brown spored shelf shaped mushrooms on wood should suggest Crepidotus immediately, and Crepidotus mollis matches his description.
