Sticky Brown Mushrooms (pics)
    #941887 -

Does anyone know what species this is? It was growing directly from cow dung in Georgia. I have been seeing this species before, and I would describe it as Brown Caps (usually darker than the one in the pics), very sticky stems and caps with no noticable bluing.

p.s. Can you tell who the fag is in the pic?

Yep, I'd agree with MAIA, Psylocibe Coprophila... One of the nonactive Psilocybes.

The fag in the pic is that N'Sync dude.

Okay so if this is indeed Ps. Coprophila, is it really not active? I read it was a weak hallucinogen. No sense in keeping it if it's not even a little active.

Here was my last post (which failed to identify them) about these shrooms I've been finding.

Beware the large photo size!!!

morphology will get ya.
being variable and all.
no two specimens ever look EXACTLY alike.
just like you and me.
we're both humans, but i sure as hell aint you.
and that is coprophila, i believe.
the picture in you rguide book is prolly old. i mean the specimens are dried and old.

I also get many macroscopic variations of this species but characteristics like growing in dung and having a a viscid pelicule are related to Ps. Coprophila, other options would be Ps. Merdaria and Ps. Semiglobata, wich also are coprophilic mushrooms, they are also like to grow in dung and have viscid pelicles but the color and size don't match for this specie, only certainty is microindentification, the spores have unique characteristics from specie to specie. When using a guide, you can't just look a the photos and say "that's it", you also have to read the description and see if the characteristics fit in  .

Well I know that you just cant compare pictures...I was looking at descriptions and what not...

I saw some pictures here from an earlier post and they had a translucent cap, and the gills were completely different...thats all.
