 Filter Disks and the PF-tek question!!!!

I am about to try this thing for the first time ever. I have read and absorbed the importance of following the PF tek to the letter, but before that, I ordered filter disks from Micron Magic. The PF tek says nothing about filter disks, but I can't imagine them being harmful. Can I use the filter disks (under the normal metal lid) without worrying that straying from the PF tek directions will increase my chances of failure? This would be the ONLY thing I "change" and it's really more of an addition, right?

Yeah, the filter disk works with PF. I would suggest a plastic lid with a hole in the middle, though. That way, the inoculation holes in the disk aren't near the hole in the lid.

Do you use a full size filter disk or how do you use a 1" disk with a full size lid? Do you have to use some sort of adhesive to glue it to the plastic cap (an adhesive that will withstand the heat of the pressure cooker?) when you use the smaller disk and your own drilled hole?
