Filter Disk Glue Q

Greetings everyone, I would like advice on what type of glue to use when applying pieces of filter disk to plastic lids....glue from a glue-gun melts all over the lid. Also, does anyone know why the plastic lids are so adament about "not for processing" when they do not melt when pressure sterilized? Thanks for imput. --Ec0

I'm talking about cutting sections of filter disk and adhesing them to the plastic lids, without having probems in the pressure cooker. The super glue I have is as viscous as water, and would seep into the disk upon applying...and as I mentioned about the hot gule of a glue gun, it melts in the pressure cooker....so, I would like If someone could tell me what type of glue to use, in this method. Thanks, ---Ec0

Use epoxy glue, I use it for everything!

if you're going to glue the filter disks to the lids how do you change them when they are used up. I know they are reusable but they don't last forever, right...? Maybe you can use tape (which won't melt in the pressure cooker and if you want to remove it you can always do it)...But then again i use polyfill and have no experience whatsoever with filter disks.
Good luck!

Greetings Esin! Thanks for your reply. I had not even thought of tape for some reason....I was planning on gluing down at least a couple of disks for longevity...I also have lots of polyfil, but felt that it was not suitable for shakables, (grains sticking to poly)...are they? --Ec0

you could always try model kit glue. Ive never tried it in this situation, but Im sure it would work.

Well I would stick with Epoxy, it works with everything and becomes basically concrete within 10 minutes. You have to be 18 to buy it and Wally World sells it for a few bucks in the Painting section. I would reccomend using Hepa Filters, they'll last longer than filter disks. You can get those anywhere. I think Type S is the best. When you're done and want to remove whatever though, just rip it off. The epoxy will come off by scraping it with a blade or something. And oh Yeah, C12H17N204P is the chemical makeup of Psilocybin.

A friend of mine just made up some plastic lids with filter discs last night.
She uses whats called Contact Cement by a company called "DAP". You can buy it anywhere. She just pressure cooked a bunch of jars and the lids held up great.
For a few years she used an adhesive that was waterproof (its meant to be used in bathrooms) but it couldn't withstand the heat. Stay away from using any kind of tape.

Thanks for everyones imput. I went with contact cement (thanks Lana!) as it was cheaper than epoxy...although I'm sure that would of been fine as well, also thanks chemical-dude (I assumed it was the majik one) for the suggestion of hepa material...It hadnt occured to me that I could purcahse individual sheets...I live in much isolation and am sure I'd have to order it online, but think that switch would be worthwhile in the future for maximizing longevity. ---Ec0
