I am going to be able to get a laptop soon and I was wondering which one would be best for around 1000.00
I want a built in cam and a decent sound system.I am attending school also.I need one that will not be so obsolete in the next 3-5 years.I am just not sure which ones would be best for me.
I do like to watch videos and make cd's on my comp.Does anyone have any suggestions as to which computer is the best one for around a grand right now? I found this one,
<HP 17" Pavillion dv9627 cl laptop PC w/AMD Turion 64x2 Dual Core Processor TL-58>
Is anyone familiar with this one? Any other suggestions?
Thanks people!

I had a HP laptop. I bought it for $1300. It was nice and top of the line. I had TONS of problems with it. The finish was too easily scraped. My battery stopped holding a charge and my power cord plug-in became very finnicky. So, the slightest bump would break my power connection and without a working battery my computer would of course shut off immediately and I'd lose whatever I was working on. Then my screen died on me. When I called for help I got people who didn't speak English. I ended up smashing the thing I got so pissed. It made it about 1 1/2 years before it died.
From now on I will only buy super cheap laptops. Because when they start fucking up (which they all seem to do) it is much less painful to get rid of it and buy a new one.

Macbooks are good if you go for the pro, not so much the regular ones. They get up into the 2000 range,though.
For around 1 grand you could get a decent and fast Sony Vaio FZ series with a built in camera and all that.

i recommend checking out some Asus computers. They've got great build quality and power under the hood for all different kinds of prices.
Here's a few in your price range.

Dell makes a good system. and they have good support for them as well. I bought a dell inspiron 6000 in may 2005 and it still works like a beauty in spite of heavy daily use. I guess it also depends on what you're going to be studying. If your in graphic design or maybe engineering i would recommend a mac. Also, depending on the school you are attending you might be eligible for certain discounts so check with your school. in my school the discounts were offered through the Engineering dept.

I keep seeing different things about Dell.I am a nursing student.I just need a good laptop that will last the next 2-5 years before I buy another one without it breaking down on me.I am looking for others reports on the best ones that have lasted for at least 2 years or more and the kind they have.Memory and such would be helpful also,I am not computer savvy but I will be using them for the next 10-20 years for my job.The first one I get needs to be the most bang for the buck.

For the price range I say Sony Vaio, they're super nice and have most of the same specs as a macbook pro for way less.
