weird doctor

i have this doctor.

i've been going to him since i was very young, and he's a Family Doctor. but whenever you go, no matter what problem you present him with, his answer is that it's allergy related or caused by your eating or some kind of bullshit he makes up off of the top of his head.

if you went to him and told him you were very depressed and suffered anxiety problems, he would probably tell you to try eating better, like switching to chicken salads. or getting more sleep. and it doesn't matter how stressed you are or anything, because in the end, chicken salads solve everything.

he even gave me problems with drysol, which is for hyperhidrosis. hyperhidrosis is the excessive perspiration of places like the armpits and palms. drysol is a prescription deodorant, and he was hesitant to write out a script because hyperhidrosis is not a health hazard to me. what the hell, who cares. it's just deodorant!

anybody have a clue? is this guy a quack or what...

most disease comes from diet and lifestyle.

chicken salad definately isnt a curall, however eating better and exercising regularly will help your health incredibly.

i would have to interact with the man, or have you get more detailed to come up with an opinion on whether or not hes a quack. many drs are anymore though. its the ones who will write a prescription for anything and everything that you need to look out for. most drs now just want to get you in, out and prescribed on something as fast as possible. its not about health anymore, its about money.

Yeah it's hard to tell unless you go in with a severe undiagnosed heart condition or something and get told to eat more blueberries.

He sounds like a homeopath. Listen to him and you will feel better. You may think you fine but there is such a greater potential for your well being. This guy sounds like he is all about the preventive medicine. Don't listen to me though im a hippy. :wink:

From the sound of it this epitomizes the inadequacy of consulting a medical doctor about psychological problems. The really sick part is that you can come out of med school with zero education about psychology and still prescribe psychiatric medication--which goes straight back to the incompleteness of treating mental disorders/difficulties exclusively as medical problems. The medical/biological/disease model is most effective when its limitations are acknowledged.
