Comcast just hooked me up

So I did my usual once a year stunt.. where I call Comcast and tell them that I never got any sort of trial deal when I signed up to try out premium channels and asked if there was a deal where I could get HBO for free for three months to try out.

I did it just to watch the Wire.

Usually it works... sometimes it doesn't and I have to argue with the chick on the phone and end up having to pay for HBO.

Time time I was expecting maybe to get a three month trial of HBO for free.

This time she puts me on hold for a while.. comes back and tells me she's giving me HBO free for 6 months, all the other premium channels free for 1 WHOLE year.. and a bunch of other channels free for 2 months.

Holy shit! jigga WHUT???

Mmmmm 6 months of The Wire on demand. I'm in heaven.

just don't get locked into any automatic billing crap, where they bill you if you don't cancel (or make sure you cancel)

Oh I do. I've been on and off with comcast for YEARS and YEARS. I know the drill :wink:

They tend to be a lot cooler, customer service wise, than Time Warner.

Lol I find it funny that in my old apartment i could not get cable because the previous tennate did not cancel their account, and i couldnt have it hooked up.... Good thing i got evicted!

What's the deal when you get evicted from an apartment? Do you get fined or legally obligated to pay a few months of your lease or anything?

I just tried calling Comcast and they said they don't normally do that, but they would try to give me a free trial. So the bitch says she is connecting and sends me right back to the main menu.
I'll call my local Comcast office and see if they can't help me out. Although I should wait til the new year so I can get it hooked up just before The Wire starts on Jan 6.

I saw some promo on your main site about free digital premium package for 40 bucks a month with HBO free for thee months and I don't think I ever got a chance to try out HBO when I first signed up with you guys.

That should probably work.

If not, just threaten to go to satellite.

According to the Wire's official site... the first episode will be available ON DEMAND on December 31... 6 days before the official premiere. I wonder if they'll charge for it.

Their anti-bittorrent policy can get in the way of my LEGAL downloading of linux distrobutions, no reason with my ports open that a torrent with 600 seeds should crawl at 12kb/s
