ANOTHER infringement notice from Comcast!

I got ANOTHER infringement notice from Comcast today. It was about a BUDDHIST torrent I downloaded not too long ago! BUDDHIST! Like the buddhists really give a fuck if I download their teachings!
So I'm pretty sure Comcast is watching me now, and I'm to scared to download anything else for the time being unless I'm mooching off someone else's internet in a parking lot of an apartment complex like an asshole. Aw heyul, pissin' me awf!

They track you through your MAC number, there are things you can do to hide this. The production company or whoever owns the rights to the video sit around and wait for you to download their stuff. You are stealing which if you look at the warning at the beginning of most movies warns about this being a Federal Crime, because you are making a digital copy of it for your computer, at least that is what they say. so they come after you. Good luck sir, sorry this happened to you.

the easiest way to avoid getting caught is to not seed the file on a public tracker. You can also, at least on utorrent, encrypt the packets being passed back and forth.
I've gotten a few notices here and there, it's no big deal as long as you don't get nailed often. When i DL popular stuff i disable uploading, remove the file from my list, and rename the folder/file on the desktop. It's been working pretty well.

And I think every human being should be a conscious tool of the universe. . . . -JG i really am glad you came back to us instead of taking the other path. *hug* -A_S (RIP your final words to me will never be forgotten)

Thing is, it wasn't a movie. It was a few audiofiles of a Buddhist seminar. I find it hard to believe that the publishers of buddhist audio really care enough to try to entrap people downloading it... But I guess it's possible...

Ya obviously... But I still wouldn't put it past comcast to be acting on their own. I know they're blocking customers from seeding,Article Here, I wouldn't put it past them to send out letters for downloading too

I use Azureus, atleast on this computer. Utorrent won't ever work on this computer, it always freezes it as soon as it starts up, and my laptop is still in the shop from when I got fucked up and slept on it and shattered the screen.
But I just set my Azureus settings to "Require encrypted transport" with a minimum encryption level of "RC4". I'm not too knowledgeable about all this stuff though, all but the basics are pretty new to me, so I'm not sure how well thats going to help.
Also I noticed under Tools/IP Filters there is a section that says "IPs that have been blocked due to IP filters" with a list of about 4 torrents saying they've been banned.
Quote:
Example: [23.01.2008 19:55:43] [The Travelling Wilburys - Collection] 154.5.112.85 has been banned
I'm not sure if thats something MY computer did or if some "outside force" like comcast did that...

In order for traffic to be encrypted, traffic encryption must be negotiated by communication pairs...... If you force the encryption you don1t negotiate and encrypt all the time....

So I should force it then to avoid this situation?
