what happens with people who put their birth date in their Username and are underage?

There are a few members I have seen around, especially at the cultivation forums that have names like

blabla90 someone91 (invented names).

When I see these names I myself instantly think it is their birth dates and that these people are underage.

I'm not trying to tell tales or get people banned but I do believe in the over 18 rule, especially as it protects the site from prosecution.

Should people with this kind of usernames be reported for further investigation or something?

I think they probably deserve it for being so dumb as to put their birthyear on their username.

If somebody verifies that they are underage, then they get banned until they turn eighteen. We do our best to keep minors off the site, but the nature of the internet makes it difficult to do a job that belongs to a child's parents. Having a number in a user name is not verification of age. For example, John93 could be somebody that is a follower of Thelema rather than somebody that was born in 1993.

I think a better indicator is the teenage heartthrob sob stories we get in the pub. Some of these kids are pretty damn blatant about it.

Stuff like “my girl friend got grounded” ect…

If that’s not enough proof you might as well get rid of the age requirement all together. Because the only way the mods are willing to take any action is if the user comes out and blatantly admits his/her age. Rarely do we get someone dumb enough to say it. There needs to be some other way.

There is. It is called parenting. We do as much as we can to ensure our members are not minors. We voluntarily have tags on all of our pages that allow blocking software to identify our site as adult only. We ask for a birth date upon registration and deny access to minors. If anybody admits to being a minor, they get banned. What more would you have us do? Require a signed and notarized affidavit along with a embossed copy of a birth certificate? Even that can be faked.
