hello ive had my salvia clone for about a month now, and its doing so so. alot better then it was when i got it it seems to be pretty much used to the non-humid climate, but i do mist once in a while. i usually put it outside during the day, and bring it in for the night. i like to give it a couple hours of direct sun every couple days i guess to 'excercise' the leaves a little. anyways, its been growing VERY slowly, and im thinking it may be because ive been watering with distilled water. ive read it likes acidic soil, which distilled water is obviously not. its almost time to water again, and im wondering if adding a few drops of vinneger, or something, to the water, would help at all. the plant seems to want to start branching, but the tiny new (branch) leaves it started a few weeks ago havnt been growing at all.. seems she only want to grow up.. perhaps it would be better to water with just plain tap water?

Try feeding it with plant food for acid loving plants, the feed lowers the pH. The slow growth may be due to the plant needing a feed. I think salvia should do fine without lowering the pH unless its been planted in soil with limestone which raises the pH.
Also It may take a little longer to adapt to its new conditions before it grows realy quickly.

thanks alot for the replies everyone well i guess ill stop putting it out in the sun, and see what happens. i did read somewhere a little bit of direct sunlight is good.. thats why ive been putting it outside.. im pretty sure it doesnt need feeding.. i fed it a very small ammout of GH nutes a couple weeks ago, and not long after it was developing lots of dry/blackish spots on the lower leaves.. so i flushed it and it appeared to get better. maybe that also contributed to the slow growth.. anyways i got a picher of tap water sitting out..waiting to water her tomorrow. guess i should get a PH tester.. thanks again everyone:)

Sorry, if my post was misleading, but I don't think the pH is a big deal as long as you don';t use soils and feeds for lime loving plants. I use soil and feed for acid loving plants but, a neutral soil and standard feed would probably work just fine. Regards
