Installing my New Video Card

Hey everyone,

Well I just got my new Vid Card, a GEFORCE 4 MX420 64MB. My OEM card is integrated onto the motherboard so I dont have a AGP slot. Therefore I had to buy a PCI Slot version. I know it sucks but that is my only option short of replacing the Motherboard which I cant do right now.

Well I will have to disable my original Vid card .

My question to you is, when do I do it. Do I cut the compter off, install the card, cut the computer on, install the software, cut the computer off and go into setup when its booting back up.

Or do you install the software. cut off the computer, put in the card and then go into setup on the way in.

I figured one of you have done this before, so I thought I would ask the pro's.

I know this will sound like a crazy idea..... Read the instructions that came with the card.

Most BIOS' are PnP Capable and you shouldn't have to manually disable the onboard video. I would:

-DOWNLOAD NVIDIA DRIVERS FROM THE WEBSITE!! then...

If you don't have instructions with the video card:

1 Shut Down.
2 Install The Video Card...
3 Boot up right up until you see the windows splash screen then shut off the computer immediately.
4 Boot into the BIOS and check the onboard video settings. Onboard vid should be disabled automatically, if not, disable it.
5 Boot normally and Install the drivers for the video card.
