FUNKY ! updated with a pic
    #768487 - 07/22/02 05:24 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

AFOAF Innoculated a few jars of birdseed about a week ago with a mix of mycellium/spores. Of 4 pints 3 were doing well, nice growth in several locations along the outside of the jar. AFOAF picked up the best jar to check it out, and when I shook it to see if the millet was wet or dry, BAM this brown/black shit fell from the top of the jar onto the birdseed. she checked out the other two jars and no problems. Immediately separated the jar from the incuabtor.

Just for shits and giggles, AFOAF pulled it out today to have a look. The top third of the jar looks like it is filled with coco coir, the next third looks like it might be cobweb, but in the bottom third there are 1 or 2 small patches of what looks like healthy mycellium. I will try to post a pic soon.

Any Ideas what the "dirt/coco" contam could be? Now that AFOAF sees it, she understands what happened to the last casing ( personally, I always wondered how the casing layer could expand into the substrate).
