border security
    #7681285 -

I know the issue of immigration has been beaten to death here, but it's mostly about legality and ethics.

This deals more with security ar the borders than it does imigration:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071126/NATION/111260034/1001

Quote:
Fort Huachuca, the nation's largest intelligence-training center, changed security measures in May after being warned that Islamist terrorists, with the aid of Mexican drug cartels, were planning an attack on the facility.

Fort officials changed security measures after sources warned that possibly 60 Afghan and Iraqi terrorists were to be smuggled into the U.S. through underground tunnels with high-powered weapons to attack the Arizona Army base, according to multiple confidential law enforcement documents obtained by The Washington Times.

Whether ot not we keep pissing off other countries, we're going to face people who want to attack us. Whether it's in what they feel is retaliation or if some crazies like Hitler just want to take over the world.

Point being... I'm not sure how I feel about militarizing the mexican border (or even building a wall), but you have to admit, that the way things are now, we're definately at security risk. Even if it isn't our foreign policy which gives cause for people to attack us, but just because we're a superpower and a tempting taret for ANYONE really.

Maybe this is why people with as much common sense in foreign policy as Ron Paul are in support of what is being considered "the extreme side" of immigration and border security.

The border wall concept is similar to birth control for pregnant women. It's too late when you've already been fucked. And, all those kids born in this country to the millions of illegal aliens over many years are by definition INSTAcitizens.

Well, that is all true to a point. But the next point involves answering the question, "Well, we've been fucked for years but what are we going to do to keep from being fucked again?" And again and again and again. You seem to be willing to stay bent over. I have to ask myself "Why, do you like it?"

As for walls in general, they can be used to keep people IN as well as to keep other people OUT. When Halliburton was awarded $350 million in a no bid contract a couple of years ago to build detention camps "just in case" one has to wonder what possibilities "just in case" includes.

This is fairly absurd. Do you or do you not want to contain illegal immigration and why are you making up insane arguments against an effective method? If you want to go, GO. Are you really afraid that anyone will ever force you to stay here against your will? Fuck no. You are just obfuscating for masturbatory reasons. Spare us.

If one believes that to build a fence along a thousand plus mile border but leave huge sections unbuilt will solve the southern border illegal alien problem, then one may believe that Iraq had WMDs and were behind 9/11 and other such propaganda.

So now you are complaining that the fence won't be complete enough? Will it solve the problem ALL BY ITSELF? No, of course not. Will it help? Yep. Your arguments are dishonest. Do you or do you not want to halt illegal human trafficking across American borders and massive tax fraud? My guess is that you do not.

That is a fairly common rhetorical device that has absolutely no relationship to your actual anus. YOU are the one who introduced the "pregnant woman" analogy along with the "being fucked" metaphor. Stop whining and make a point. If you dare. This isn't Romper Room.

I bet zappa has some illegals working on his roof and landscaping

Seems to me like a wall would be no where NEAR as effective as if we had some sort of sophisticated satellite that monitored the area and could detect human movement along programmed areas where there normally shouldn't be humans.

As far as tunnels.. that's a tough one. maybe get a bunch fo seizmographs?

Weird... of the aquaintences and relatives of mine who consider themselves hardcore conservatives who want to stomp out illegal immigrants, the most vehement ones seem to have 'subcontracts' hired who are illegal and then they use the excuse "well it's not my responsibility it's the contractors". I say if you walk up to a subcontractor and the dude can't speak a lick of english, that's probably enough to warrant looking into.

All these people calling for a wall are complete idiots.

Israel has been building one for almost 10 years now, it has cost them many billions of dollars, is only 50% or so complete, and in the areas that it is complete in is is by many accounts completely ineffectual.

And their wall only needed to be 400 miles long and was placed in a heavily urban area with easy access to any point for Israeli forces.

Now, you fools want to build one many times as long in some of the most inhospitable terrain in the country, and do it in some kind of reasonable timespan?

Get Out Of Town.

You can't have it all ways, my friend. Whose borders do you really care about, ours or Iraq's? Which issue poses more of a threat to the economic well-being and the security of this country... a stabilized Iraq, or a country where our borders are unregulated, and illegal aliens given American identification "so we know who they are"?

Ahhh, the fallacy of pre-emptive attacks to seek out terrorists. There's nothing like leaving the farm to travel thousands of miles away to kill the people who wish to burn the crops and rape the chickens.

A terrorist is like a virus. Consider, if you will, the human body. Liken it to that of this country. The system of our physical body is very similar to the manners in which our country operates.

Do we go out into the freezing cold with no coat to kill microscopic viruses, or do we invest in our immune system and exist impervious to getting infected?

Neocons have the right concerns in mind, but their approach is insanely counter-productive.

Like I said, you can't have it both ways, my friend. Which would you prefer? :strokebeard:
