Odd Cyanofibrillosa in Seattle?

Lately I've been finding some odd looking fibs. Sorry no pics but I'll try to get some pics of the caps I'm printing soon. I'll get a camera to take with me on my next trip to the patches.

Description: They look like fibs except they tend to turn white before the caps open and then stay a light creamy tan/white color until mature. Even when wet I can't seem to separate a pellicle. The caps also seem to get VERY slightly wavy when fully mature. I am sure that these are not cyanescens because the pins start out a yellowish-tan color.

Has anyone else found any mushrooms like this so far this season in Washington?

yes, they do look like that except i've never seen any as big as the one you're holding. the ones i find are about the same size as the two medium ones in the center of the pic. what are they?

i tried printing these and no luck so far. Out of the ten or so that i've found i got 2 VERY light prints. you can barely make out the tiny lines of spores but they are there. the print looks brownish with a hint of purple although it seems more on the redder side of purple than blue. then again the print is VERY light so its hard to tell. started some on agar, hopefully they aren't too dirty.

i don't have a working camera at the moment , but i plan on borrowing one sometime soon to take a few pics. that's if they continue to grow with the very cold weather. wish me luck.

They're cyanofibrillosa from Seattle.
The spore print is purple-chocolate-brown.
I didn't do a print... I just looked at the spore droppings on the caps.

I'm guessing this is a regional thing then? As I always heard that a pellicle is something cyanofibrillosa had. I found a few fibs earlier this year that had the text book description of a fib, everything from color to habitat to pellicle. These ones I found recently just seemed odd but then again I've found some odd looking cyans from time to time. Cyans with flat caps etc.

Thanks for the info! Since we're on the topic of Seattle mushrooms, have you found any stuntzii yet this season? I just got a few prints from some VERY robust clusters growing in mulch. It seems stuntzii are harder and harder to find every year in Seattle, or maybe its just me.

There is a mushroom in Washington that people have been calling P. cyanofibrillosa but a microscopic examination proves it is something else, probably an undescribed species.

Nice microscopy work, Workman! Some of the pins i've found resemble those except slightly darker in color due to the cold weather. Most of the darkness is from bluing.

If you'd like a dry sample just tell me. I'm thinking these might be the new ones because they give me the impression that they arent normal fibs because they lack a few of the telltale traits.

Pics will come with the next flush, the patch I know of is TINY so let's hope it puts out a couple more to be photographed.
