Duck Ass, Psathyrella's, Galerina's and Stropharia Foray in N Seattle
    #6369718 -

Well this was a most interesting day for me. A two and a half hour walk in north Seattle, Washington for photographing pictures.

I first crossed over this bridge with @cro several years ago and we found some P. cyanescens there. Now there is nothing but ruined cut out patches from pickers last year and no magic anyymore in this area.

However I thought that I would go for a photo-shoot anyway. So, here I was crossing the bridge when I heard these two ducks talking to one another. "Quack! Quack! Quack!, said one to the other= (Now translated to English for those who cannot read Duck-Talk).

So, one duck says to the other, "I was having a bad case of hemorhoides so I went to the pharmacy to buy some Preparation-H. The pharmacists ask me, 'will that be cash or charge.' So the duck replied to the pharmacists, "Nope! just put it on my bill."

It was then they noticed I was watching them so the 2nd duck replied to the first,
"Lets give him some ass."

So, as I noted above, I was crossing this small bridge over a small stream and these two ducks gave me the ass.

However, They looked slimey in the poluted waters so I reclined. Oops! Decline that is.

Image of Ducks giving me the ass.

Then I found this gathering of four small brown-capped Psathyrella specie.

A lone Galerina autumnalis inthe grass.

And then three large Stropharia specimens.

A small culster of Galerina marginata specimens in Alder. With Blackberry as a defence.

Another colony of Galerina marginata

A colony of Stropharia mushrooms in a swampy area

And more and more Stropharias. They were everywhere I looked. Left, right, east and west, north and south and up and down and in and out and all about.

And three more species of Psathyrella mushrooms.

Hey MJ
psatharyllas and galerina... Well HELL - those indicator genera of the first flushes of hardier psilocybes like cyanescens, No?
And Stropharia... we DAMN... those practically ARE psilocybes!
ARE we... dare a I ask.... are we on the verge of a second round of psilocybe fruitings up there? Even having had a freeze... could it be? could it... ???

I really doubt that many cyans will grow now. that was over a three day freeze and that usually means the end of cyans for theyear, at least here. san Ferancisco maybe yes sinc ethey are finding other species of Psilocybe.

I only found a total of about two feresh ounces of babies in September and they got ripped outwithin a day by shroom thieves. So I have picked no magic inthis city here inthis moments.

Anyone want to show me some are welcome to? I jsust want pictures.

MJ, I was finding those "Galerinas" in full flush in the Bay Area. When I showed some photos of the ones I had taken, many people seemed a little hesitant on the Galerina ID... which mirorred my own doubt of Galerina ID. So I said I would spend more time to accurately identify the look-a-like mushrooms. I compared many Galerina photos.... and then, I came across Tubaria, specifically [T. furfuracea.

After comparing dozens and dozens of photos, preferred habitat, as well as common indicator species, it was undeniably obvious that they were indeed Tubaria and not Galerina. For instance, the belly-button caps which usually have a wavy cap margin, as well as infrequent veil, and a more orange than white stipe, are common with Tubaria, and less so with Galerina.

Here are some examples of the Tubaria furfuracea specimens I found fruiting frequently in Ps. cyanescens habitat. Also, as is mentioned on Mike Woods MykoWeb page for T. fufuracea, they grow commonly alongside Psathyrella gracilis and Hypholoma arauntiaca.
Quote:
It often fruits in vast numbers in its favored habitat wood chips, with Psathyrella gracilis and Hypholoma aurantiaca.

I should have took more photos exemplifying this, however, I tend to like focusing on just a jew specimens up close, rather than a large area colonized by different species.
I did manage to get two photos, one with T. furfuracea and a P. gracilis, though only one is shown in the photo-

and this one with H. aurantiaca and P. gracilis-

and this patch of Tubarias found just a foot or so away-

Some more Tubaria from the Bay Area-
