Song about preservering through adversity
    #7640789 -

I need a song with good lyrics about preserving through adversity

a song with lyrics that you can hear

simply put

--------------------
"Ten thousand flowers in spring
the moon in autumn,
a cool breeze in summer,
snow in winter.
If your mind isn't clouded by unnecessary things,
this is the best season of your life."

"Stand"
Rascal Flatts

You feel like a candle in a hurricane
Just like a picture with a broken frame
Alone and helpless, like you've lost your fight
But you'll be alright, you'll be alright

Chorus:
'Cause when push comes to shove
You taste what you're made of
You might bend 'til you break
'Cause it's all you can take
On your knees you look up
Decide you've had enough
You get mad, you get strong
Wipe your hands, shake it off
Then you stand, then you stand

Life's like a novel with the end ripped out
The edge of a canyon with only one way down
Take what you're given before it's gone
And start holdin' on, keep holdin' on

(Repeat chorus)

Every time you get up and get back in the race
One more small piece of you starts to fall into place - yeah

^ ahhh i don't like gospel... I ended up finding it by the ways

It seems people often don't choose to believe in a religion by freewill but instead by a systematic tradition of imprinting the "what happens if you don't" belief system through generation to generation. The whole concept of hell is the main reason of why so many people believe

but in order to believe in God, you must have heard from word of your fellow human. And as the bible says humans are all sinful

So therefore they could of crossed the principles of whats good is good and whats bad is bad if the people who wrote the bible were indeed sinful.

Why god would allow such a hell to exist seems a little duplicitous, surely he could construct some sort of eternal prison that is more punishing and perhaps even correcting then just a simple pit of flames to torture people for there lack of faith in a God that cannot observed by our sense but instead mistaken with our own conscious

Well, if you like to overcome adversity by getting stoned, I'll recommend Ella Fitzgerald's "When I Get Low I Get High".

Meh, that's all I got right now.

That is an amazing song, Nasrudin. Good recommendations.

Navyseals101, what kind of music do you like?
I'm sure I have some things that you're looking for.
 but Aretha's voice didn't move you at all?
That voice.. is so powerful to me.
I like gospel music too though, I suppose.
Then again, I just like music.

As far as Hell goes, I don't think it's a "place" that we go if we're bad. I guess I don't really believe it exists, only as part of the Illusion.
Quote:
You don't seem to understand you are in prison. If you are to get out of prison the first thing you must realize is: You are in prison. If you think you're free you can't escape - Georges Gurdjieff

p.s. like reggae? this song is pretty bad ass.
it's by Fat Freddy's Drop

Just about anything by Hatebreed. "I Will Be Heard", "Perseverance", "Live For This", etc. Just about any of those should suffice.

First one I thought of was Driving the Last Spike by Genesis

Leaving my family behind me
Not knowing what lay ahead
Waving goodbye, as I left them in tears
Remembering all we'd said

I looked to the sky, I offered my prayers
I asked him for guidance and strength
But the simple beliefs of a simple man
Lay in his hands, and on my head

I gave everything that they wanted
But still they wanted more
We sweat and we toiled
Good men lost their lives
I dont think they knew what for

I sold them my heart
I sold them my soul
I gave everything I had
Ah but they couldnt break my spirit
My dignity fought back,
Fightback
Can you hear me
Can you see
Dont you hear me
Dont you see

We worked in gangs for all we were worth
The young boys pulling the wagons
We were digging the tunnel, shifting the earth
It was then that it happened.

No-one knew how the cracks appeared
But as it fell they all disappeared
Stone fell like rain

Can you hear me,
Can you see
Dont you hear me
Can you breathe

The smoke cleared, the dust it settled
No one knew how many had died
All around there were broken men
Theyd said it was safe, theyd lied
You could hear the cries, you could smell the fear
But good fortune that day was mine
And it occurred to me the heart of a good man
It seems is hard to find.

Can you hear me,
Can you see
Dont you hear me
Dont you see

We worked, how we worked like
The devil for our pay
Through the wind, through the snow,
And through the rain

Blasting and cutting through gods country like a knife
Sweat stinging my eyes, there has to be a better life

Ah but I can hear my childrens cry
I can see the tears in their eyes
Memories of those Ive left behind
Still ringing in my ears
Will I ever go back again
Will I ever see her face again
Ill never forget that night
As they waved goodbye to their fathers

We came from the north,
And we came from the south
With picks and with spades
And a new kind of order
Showing no fear of what lies up ahead
Theyll never see the likes of us again

Driving the last spike,
Lifting and laying the track
With blistering hands,
The sun burning your back

Oh but I can hear my childrens cry
I can see the tears in their eyes
Memories of those Ive left behind
Still ringing in my ears
Well Ill always remember that night,
As they waved goodbye to their fathers

We followed the rail, we slept under the stars
Digging in darkness, and living with danger
Showing no fear of what lies up ahead
Theyll never see the likes of us again

Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man.  For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire.  Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it.

~ R.W. Emerson, "Self-Reliance"
