Well, its not going to absorb through your skin, but i would definatly avoid touching your eyes, face, mouth, or food after handeling unknown mushrooms until your hands have been washed. just to be on the safe side.

Yes. The poisons of certain Amanitas (death caps, destroying angels etc) can be absorbed through the skin. People have even had the skin on their fingers rot (necrosis) from handling death caps.

Really? I didnt know that. I figured you might be able to get sick from a transfer from you hands but i didnt know it actually damaged your skin by cocntact.

I think It'd be best to just avoid unknown amanitas toadstooly.

Death caps are an all white color. Most common easiest trait to spot on a mushroom whether it's an amanita or not is if the base has a vulva, sort of like a big ball with the mushroom popping out on one side. Look at some amanita pictures to get used to seeing how they look.
Here's a good pictures showing the vulva at the bottom:

Please cite a reference. I am unaware of a single case anywhere of this happening.
The only cases of problems with handling mushrooms I know of are cases of contact dermatitis. In particular some of the slimier species of Suillus cause rashes from the slime. There has also been a case I know of where a person reporting burning sensations after handling Omphalotus (Jack O'Lantern) mushrooms.
There has never been a case of a fatality from a person only handling mushrooms.
I have personally handled more deadly mushrooms than I'd care to attempt to count with no visible effects.
There have also been some interesting cases where people inhaled large quantities of mushroom spores. This happens sometimes in workers at mushroom cultivation facilities and usually results in allergic reactions.
Common sense suggests that it is a good idea to wash your hands after handling *any* mushrooms (poisonous or not), but the biggest danger you're eliminating is the various bacteria that may have gotten on your hands.
To be poisoned by a mushroom the toxins have to get into your body. Your skin is a great barrier to that. Poisonings happen most often when somebody eats a poisonous mushroom. Other cases have happened - I know of a case where some guys tried boiling psychedelic mushrooms to make a tea, concentrated it, then shot it up. They were lucky they didn't die. Your digestive system destroys and rejects lots of toxins in what you eat, so it also protects you from lots of poisoning.
Happy mushrooming!

I just wanted to say, that I've touched Death Caps quiet often (to see if it actually was one) and nothing ever happened. Most -if not any- of the cases where people had problems after touching poisonous mushrooms are most likely related to some kind of allergy. Normally nothing happens if you touch a mushroom, no matter how poisonous it is But if you're running through the wild, collecting mushrooms, be sure to wash your hands as often as possible, for you don't want any unlucky circumstances lead to the case that any poisons get in touch with either your mouth / eyes etc. or edibles you touch, after you've touched a poisonous mushroom...

after i handle deadly or potentially deadly mushrooms i make sure to wash my hands liberally with a good soap before i eat or put my fingers into my mouth, but that's about it and that is often considered to be unneccesarily cautious. i recommend it on general principle.

Credible Links???
I've fried up a few Death Caps (Amanita phalloides) and chewed them up then spat them out for a laugh
All they tasted of was the butter they'd been fried in!
Didn't do me any harm. I'm still here!
