Storing Shrooms in honey?

i heard about storing fresh shrooms in honey. I;m goin hunting so maybe i'll try storing fressh picked shrooms in jars of honey. has anyone else tryed this? does it work?

I haven't heard anything about that... I think you may have confused something with the honey tek, where you germinate spores in honey for growing purposes.

I tried putting my half dried shrooms in a jar of honey, and mmmmmmmm, the taste is much nicer, and the potency was still there. Never tried it fresh though.

active honey does have good antibacterial and preserving properties, but watch out for inferior normal honey as bacteria can grow out of control if you store your mushies in this... if your looking for an effective method for long term storage... dry em thoroughly with a food dehydrator then store them in a sealed bag with some of those little packets of silica gel that you find in everything... to keep out the moisture ... sweet ;]

NZ tends to have really good honey for storing The honey I've stored mine in is REALLY thick, and flows really slowly.

I saw it in an Icelandic movie. It was the only movie where I saw people eating active shrooms. They were passing around a honey jar with mushrooms and each one took one spoon of it.

It is a very good way to preserve many things, I would dry them out a bit first though and use a nice natural honey..not the stuff that was made to be squeezed out of a bear. Health food stores carry the good stuff...manuka is probably the best..but also very expensive...unless you live in New Zealand.
