what causes black pin.

just innoc some jars tuesday.

rye.qts.

pr all showing signs of growth noticed black pin in one jar.
i think a couple more are gonna have it too.

i used a little more water this time because the tek i am using called for a lot of water.

i think that's aspergillus of some kind.

You got some spores that survived sterilization or where introduced from innoculation.

spores germinate, it grows then black pins come from it making new spores.

well i only lost one to black pin.

i think it came from a black husk in with rye.

all other jars look fine.

black pin mold = Mucor

it is spread through air, grain, or contaminated compost.
