in catalina state park. its a nice 3 mile hike, basically straight up. sucked balls, and we didnt bring enough water. heh, but once we got there it was good times. and the walk back wasnt so bad, all down hill and had some thunderstorms coming in so we had a bit of cloud cover as well. anyway, on with the pics.

Looks like a great hike.  to a day on the trail.

Oh, and first rule to learn when hiking in the desert...bring enough water!!  I used to carry way more then I needed, but I never ran out and I never went thirsty!  But water is heavy and its a bitch when your packing a gallon or two just for an afternoon hike.  However, in the desert in summer I'd never get caught short!

yes, and being the desert rat that i am i should have known better. we did have plenty of beer though! lol, priorities right? the last time i did this hike was about 7 years ago, i was still in a fairly decent shape from my many years of wrestling. some wrestling buddies and i actually jogged the three mile straight up shit ass of a trail, with maybe a bottle or two of water each. and we made it no problem.

however, 7 years and 60 pounds later its not quite as easy as i had remembered. who woulda thought?

and in all actuality, we had JUST enough water. it was when we got up to the pools and took inventory on our water situation where we found we had one bottle left. we also had a few bottles of powerade... but more would have been way better.

when my buddy marcos found out we only had one left, he got all butt hurt and started talking shit to me about how i only care for myself and i should not have drank as much water on the way up as i did. i told him, no marcos... you should have just brought more water, we all should have just bought more water. the dude wanted to fight me! i was like ok, hold on dude... you can have this last bottle of water, just calm down. we dont need to be fighting over it just yet. wait till the buzzards are circling over head, then maybe we could justify a fight over the last bottle.

in the mean time, i remind him theres a six pack of beer and some really cold water we should be playing in. good times were had by all.

oh, and that last bottle of water...

it never got drank. the way down was so cool with the cloud cover and it being mostly downhill all the way to the trail head. so we made it out ok. but i definitely learned on this one, the more water the better. damn, im so fucking sore and shit. gonna sleep well. waking up will be a different story.

pretty much anywhere you go these days has some kind of day use/parking charge or similar nominal fee. sabino canyon is a pretty awesome place too. its been a while since ive gone there, but i remember seven falls being quite the swimming hole. someone told me sabino canyon got really messed up during our last monsoons. not so sure if its true or not, just what i heard.

in the next comming weeks i plan on checking out the cave in peppersauce... i never been but i hear its pretty cool.
