There is nothing wrong with the poor man's setup, but an equally good and cheap method is by using Rubbermaid or similar containers and perlite. Trust me it's cheap and you can get relatively high yields. Besides it's a bitch to mess around with those bottles all the time, this way things are made easier.

I used a styrofoam cooler that I got from work for free (it was used to ship solder). In the lid, I cut a "window" and covered it with that 3M window platic stuff that shrinks with a hair dryer. I lined the cooler with a black trash bag so the shrooms would grow staight up, towards the light source, and so I could dispose of the perlite easily. The only thing that I didn't have laying around was the perlite. :cool:

Thanks for the reponses guys. Can you explain how the perlite terrium method works, or is there a place on the net I can read about it?
