Color of Straw Water

Hey guys, quick question to soothe my cat's paranoid mind:

Kitty pasteurized some straw yesterday (first time trying with straw), simmering at around 170 degrees for about an hour.

According to the teks that he's read, the water that the straw was boiled in makes a really good base for a mycelium syringe.

Q: The teks mentioned that the straw water is green - kitty's turned out more of an amber/brown color. I'm not certain what kind of straw it is, but is that normal or abnormal?

You guys should sell straw water syringes(Or give them away to people like me). So we can squirt it into our substrates for like a miracle grow type food for our shroomies... Also, we can make liquid growth syringes... mmmm

Yeah, we could sell them in glo-stick tubes with a spore capsule inside! Just unwrap, bend to release spores, and stick in a drawer for a few days.
When colonized, just poke a hole in the end and squeeze the mycelium solution out of the tube!

Heh. Or everyone could just go buy a bail of straw from Lowe's and boil the hell out of it.

I imagine it's necessary to sterilize the straw water before using it for anything. How long should it PC for?
