GROWLOG of Oysters - PHOTOS!

Below are 3 bags of Florida Oyster. They were inoculated and incubated in filter patch bags with wheat straw.



The 3 bags are dunked for 18 hrs in a cooler below.

A couple of bags of spawn ready to be innoculted with a few flavours of Oyster. These photos will also be updated. When they are all done, perhaps one bag may be shipped out to one of you reading this thread...provided of course that you are covering the cost of packaging/shipping...I'll post more info in due time about this giveaway.

Well unfortunately, I became so busy I left no time to inoculate those bags of spawn. They were dumped with as much shame as dumping a chick for being herself :smile:

Here are some photos for all of you to marvel at.










This is another bag of straw draining after pasteurization. Note that the white above the bag is the steam and the stream below is the hot water dripping. The camera did a slow shot of this due to the lack of surrounding light.

Nice Clusters you got there. What kinda enviroment do you have them growing in? I'm going to start some oyster's soon too what type of spawn bag's do you recommend I get?

They are in a slightly humid basement with air flow from a slightly open raised window. The martha tek will soon be put into play to control variables like humidity and air flow a little more. The bags are I believe called 'gausetted' filter patch bags. I picked up the largest ones. They run for about 50 cents a bag but cheaper for larger quantities.
