All I know is the PF tec and coir casings for P cubensis.. I have tried oysters befor and was not impressed. I am realy interested in Reishi but cant seem to get good growth.. I tried a pine/rye mix but it didnt work what so ever.
I wanna go with hard wood this time around, so what is a good wood I can buy localy? And how do I prepare it? Do I soak it with rye? Or do I soak them sepritly and mix them befor sterilizing.?
I have a very nice container I made some time ago and never used. I can give them as much fresh air as they want and I can supply a very large amount of humidity with an ultra sonic humidifier I have.
Its 80-100 gallons
The humidifier you see is not the one I will be using.
I plan on growing these quite steadily for along time so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check out local cabinetry/woodworking shops--they often have untreated hardwood chips/shavings that they just toss.
They grow much better when it's warm--otherwise the blocks can go dormant, then, if you move them to a warmer environment ~ 80 F, they suddenly start growing again.
I used sterilized grain jars, spawned that to pasteurized wood shavings, stuffed that substrate in gallon or 2 gallon ziplock bags, and just waited for colonization, then if you leave the bags unzipped, you should start having conk/antler formation in a week or so.
It's a pretty forgiving species.

Im growing them strickly indoors throughout the whole growth. Im not sure if they will do good in this environment. I have a very good heater and good air exchange. and the ultrasonic humidifier is great. So I will be able to alter most every condition the mushroom needs. My climate(Mid Westurn Canada) isnt very good for mushrooms, very cold in the winter and preaty hot in the summer.
Thanks for the tip, I will stop by a cabnet shop on my way home from work.. Or did threw the garbage bins out back
