Half 2 liter soda bottles are the ultimate cheap container.And so you know this project is better suited for clones than seed that way you would know the caracter of the plant.You could have sativa or otherwise tall lanky strain.If you do the 2 liter it would be about 10-12 inches..smaller containers like cups are just too small without clones to get anything worth the jail time possibility.If you do take clones from a large plant you can 12/12 and root at the same time ala sea of grean.

when using small containers like this you're better off with clones, but id least get 3-4 nodes on the plant before flowering it. Remember you're really going to have to keep an eye on the sex of the plant since you're starting from seed.

You can't just throw a plant from seed into flower whenever you want without causing problems. Clones it's alright because they start as old as the mother was, but from seeds you need to wait until pre-flowering which will probably occur when the plants are larger then you want them to get.

With seeds no you need clones. Been there done that.

I always hated to start seedlings before 5 1/2-6 weeks because it seemed to increase the odds of getting a herm. However 6 weeks untopped in 16 oz. cups would yield too large a plant for the volume IMO. Also I always liked to see the uncut top of a seedling finish, to add to my form related selection criteria.

From clones I usually started them at a well developed 6-9", and most strains I toyed with tended to shoot about 2-3 X starting height. Goal was to stay under 2 ft, naturally the plant was focused to be a single kola with low braches clipped almost to the top to start. I was usually able to get 0.5 oz per cup or more, @4 cups/sq ft. Small cups can work great but are a pain in the ass (water fully EVERY DAY once in flower for a week and a half).

If you give the roots all they need to support the plant above them, you don't need to worry about roots getting too large, but then i heard that large roots wont support huge bud growth. How do you do it Magash. Do you have some schedule for lighting and feeding and the strain you are using. I would love to get some similar results. I love looking at your plants in the lil cups. Ama-zaz-zing!
