50/50 isn't really a casing tek. it's a casing formula. you can use 50/50 with SOS if you want. i, personally, wouldn't use 50/50. it's pretty outdated, and there's better. i have problems with contams as it is, so i wouldn't even try to use it. i'd either use the 50/50 plus, or just regular vermiculate. and i highly recomend SOS. i've had good luck with it, and so have most people. good luck.

The SOS method is really easy. i had little cups in a ice cream bucket with some perlite on the bottom and it worked good. i just used straight verm with a little bit of peat moss

Quick question on sos method of casing, When you take the substrate out of the cups, when colonized, is it in cake form, or is it loose? How do i place it on the perlite?

i've never taken it out of the cups. dont' know why, just never tried it. i doubt it will be as compact as a cake, but it'll hold together. if it crubles, you need to wait longer.
