do any of you guys play frisbee golf?

i know that there are some shroomerites on irc who are frisbee golf fanatics, but would like to know if any of the shroomerites on the board play.

husband and i just got into it after a good friend of ours introduced it to us a few weeks back. now we've been going to play frisbee golf 3-4 times a week!

it's such a stoner sport...at least at the frisbee golf courses here, people bring beer, food and joints to smoke whilst playing. it's also a good way of exercising...you walk a few kilometers without even knowing it! the whole time you've got your mind set in finding your frisbee and getting it into the basket....

i really suggest trying frisbee golf if you guys have never played it...everyone we've introduced it to loves it - even those who suck at it (including myself) enjoy it.

for those who do play..what's your favourite discs?

for distance drivers, i quite like the innova archangel and valkyrie
for fairway, i like the innova leopard
and for putting..i like the innova polecat

I started last year, but sadly have only been able to go twice this year. There are two free courses in my area and there are a ton in Rochester, or so I'm told, but I'm really not too great so I'll just stick to the local courses for now.

As for favorite discs, I can't answer, I just bought some Innovas from Dick's because that's all they had.

me and my college buddies play quite a bit of disc golf, though I've been disheartened from losing so many discs on my local course :sad: I haven't been playing enough to have a favorite disc, though I'd say heavy multi-use driver.

I think most people here have probably played it :tongue:

I'm one of the better amateurs around my area, at least for the courses really close by me.  The courses in Alaska are 1000% better than any other ones I've ever played, lots of trees and water and other fun stuff to go around/over.

I use a Monster or Starfire only, I don't change discs every throw like some people.

I like frisbee golf, but I'd rather play Ultimate frisbee.. cos you just use one regulation sized disc, and it's easier to get better at different throws, etc.. plus the action is way more intense than folf.

For some reason I could never get into Ultimate Frisbee. Just doesn't do it for me.

Now I'm gonna have to go to the course tonight to play a round or two even though my usual playing partner (and good friend) is out of town. The park is free after 7.

So they actually have frolf courses that charge you? How do they work that out?

Well they're public parks... beaches actually. Green Lakes and Jamesville Beach that have fees for parking your car really, $5 a car between 9am and 7pm during the season (spring to late summer) and the courses are in those parks.

the courses here are also probably like the ones in alaska...

the one i just came from which is our local has 17 courses, cliffs and rocks to climb, trees and the sea to the side. our other local course has 9 courses, but it's like a golf course...flat iwth some hills mainly just grass.

there's another one not too far from us, where it has 19 courses, the first course is over 450meters! the par is 6....but, it's quite nice as well, set in the forest.

i really don't like ultimate compared to disc golf truthfully...although both social sports, it's nice to just chill with friends and hike up and down the different courses :smile:

that's too bad some of you guys have to pay...majority of the courses in this country are free.

By course do you mean hole?  Because that's a shitload of courses (a course is 18 holes).

And I'm sure there's great courses most places, but the ones I've played in Phoenix and Pennsylvania were really lame wide open fields that were like par 4 for each hole because it was just long open grass, and that's not fun in my book.

The course right down the street from my house is 18 holes, all par 3, ranging from 175ft to 380ft a hole, winding through trees and down cliffs and all kinds of fun stuff.

Have to watch out for people walking their dogs around blind corners though, they don't like discs flying at them.

Par 6?! Holy shit!
Green Lakes is all par 3 through and around trees, it's a fun course but only nine holes and it isn't kept well. Jamesville Beach is 18 holes, half par 4 and I think one or two fives just in the open like Jadian was talking about. Those holes suck, especially since I don't have the greatest distance in the world. The other half are all really fun par threes through the woods, fairly thick woods especially compared to the other course I play at.

yes sorry i mean holes..didn't realize i was typing courses the whole fucking time! :p my english is going down the drain...

i agree, when there's obstacles on the courses then it's more fun...

i found some photos of my local course on the net...





there's a nice cliff by the 6th hole overlooking the sea and islands in the archipelago where you could just take a rest and smoke a joint with some friends enjoying hte scenery...

i got a shitload by me ... 4 within 15-20mins drive.... another 3 or 4 within 40minutes drive... i used to play all the time for like 5 years.. and i was pretty damn good for awhile.. ive gotten like 2 aces so far... ihavent played in like a year though, been to lazy to get out to the courses

i actually got a hole in one the other day...BUT, it was to the wrong basket :grin:

nevertheless, it was funny and unexpected and there were 12 witnesses to all go WHOAAAA at the same time and like "wtf how did that little chink girl do that"

so it's been frisbee golf season! anyone else play?

my preference in discs have change, my technique at throwing has gotten better and we've been playing more than ever.
