frisbee golf is the shit, i think me and a friend might be going this weekeend, there is a nice free course about 10 mins from my new place.

Man, I've only been able to hit up the course once so far, and I fucking SUCKED. I just started last summer, and since I didn't play all winter I expected to be rusty, but I really fucking sucked. Shot a +3 my first time and a +2 my second. I'm usually shooting par. I had to climb three fucking trees to get my damn driver down too. I'll have to start going again. I want to go after a trip at some point.

I hate to be anal-retentive, but it's disc golf, and for a good reason: the discs have nothing to do with frisbees. It's more like throwing a dinner plate...as hard as you can. You don't loft it up and watch it float on the breeze: you sling that fucker just as hard and as fast as you can. Some of the top pros have average drives of around 500 feet (though I can only muster about 300). You won't do that with any kind of frisbee: it takes a disc. Anyone wanting to add Distance to their throw should read up on the basics at:

Yes. All told, disc golf is less work.

I guess I launched into the soapbox because a friend of mine was complaining just this afternoon that he can't throw a golf disc. But he's trying to throw it like a frisbee, and that doesn't work. It goes 50 feet and flies off to the left.

This is very true. I try to stick to disc golf, but occasionally I let it slip.
Sadly some people really do play frisbee golf though. I always make it a point to tell them they can just stop by Dick's or Sports Authority and pick up a basic set of driver and putter for like 20 bucks.
