Just got a new laptop, but i'm retarded with computers...Here's the problem, When I leave this thing on to download large files, couple hours or more, it automatically shuts itself off unless I hit a key every so often. Not all the way off but enough where the programs shut down and I have to log back into windows. It is operating vista home basic if that makes a difference. How do I stop this?

Well i have windows XP and it's just your power settings. So you go to START>CONTROL PANEL>POWER OPTIONS and then set System Standby to never or however long you need.

What he said. beat me to it.
Change the power saver settings. It's usually where you tweak the screen saver.
Right click on desktop, go to properties, then screen saver. At the bottom of screen you should see something like "monitor power"
Thats in XP....Vista is a load of unstable crap.:shocked:

Thanks guys. yea i don't like vista but as i said, im retarded :smile:. so i have to wait for my brother to get back from vacation to load me back up with xp pro.
