Computer Help Plllllzzzzz

Yesterday I uninstalled a huge amount of software from my desktop computer. Then I installed a few Windows updates. It kept prompting me to restart, so I did. Only when it won't boot up now.
It starts the Windows XP loading screen, then prompts me to choose from the list of boot modes (start windows normally, last known good configuration, safe mode, etc). I've tried all of them with no luck. As it's loading, the computer suddenly goes to a black screen and then restarts. It's like a shitty psychedelic thought loop.
If I boot in safe mode, the last file to show up as loaded/loading on the screen is agp440.sys, so I'm not sure if that means that it's not working properly or it's the last file that IS working properly.
I tried booting from the Windows XP CD, but the computer wouldn't give me the boot from CD menu, it just ignored the CD.
If anyone knows what's going on, I'd appreciate some tips. Or just how to boot from the CD.

Whne the computer is reloading, don't let it get to the screen that gives you the option which mode to boot into. Hit F* while it's rebooting, and TURN OFF automatic restarts if there's an error. Then, instead of restarting, it will pop up with a blue screen saying what the error is. Good luck.

OK, I'll let you in on a little secret....
Step One: Go buy an all purpose multi-use PC tool with rear and foreward attachments (Sledgehammer). Step Two: Gently tap your machine with the tool until it is a smouldering rubble.
Good luck.

Okay I was able to boot from the CD, run the recovery console, and disable the agp440.sys file from loading on boot, but it didn't help.

What you need to do is boot to the cd again, run recovery console, and then attempt a CHKDSK /R on the system.
Pretty much if that doesn't work, it's going to be a re-install of the O/S.

If fit is XP and you can load the recovery console, you should be able to revert to a registry entry before you started mucking around. It may, or may not fix the problem.
