mycelium growth spurts?
    #7256631 -

ok so i got the mycelium colonizing nicely, in my 1 pint jars of brf. Now everything has been going fine so i just have 2 small questions.

1. there has been only twice now the temp has exceeded 86, i went in and checked it was 87.8 at its max for a few hours, is that ok? i imagine it would be since the mycelium is still growing.

2. i check the growth like every 2 days or day and a half, now im wondering does mycelium tend to have growth spurts? it seems some days i go in and its like holy shit its moved like crazy, then like 3-4 day periods of almost nothin. Temps all stay relatively the same so its not like low temps or anything.

1. its ok, mycelium death doesnt occur 106 I think.

2. As its colonizing, the mycelium might become stronger and more efficient

I don't think a few hours above optimal temps would hinder your end results. But you should really try to keep it in the lower 80s as opposed to the mid 80s.

As for growth spurts, it is possible that you see that from the outside. Outskirt growth slowing down could mean it is concentrating on colonizing the middle of your jar. Don't worry, just watch and be amazed
