Recording - Conversations/Other

I was wondering if there is a digital device that would have a mic with a high enough gain or input to record everyday conversations. maybe something that could hook up to my ipod, maybe not.. something that i could keep hidden also possibly would be good... note: im not trying to get into any covert or troubling situations :smile:
