Who here likes to eat all kinds of weird shit?

I've eaten and enjoyed escargot, frog's legs, octopus and squid and I'll even sometimes have a couple of those little baby octopi from the Chinese Buffet place. I also enjoy all kinds of sushi. Some people just stick with the California Rolls but I like all of it. Gimme some damn eel. I don't care. It's good shit. I'd probably try blowfish if I was confident it wouldn't kill me. Wigglefood too. Why not?
I just think it's goofy to have all kinds of hang-ups and reservations about what you eat. And I'm not talking about vegetarians here. You guys do your thing. I just think people should try to experience as much as possible, and that includes with the dining experience. But when I try to be adventurous with what I eat, I get everybody else lookin' at me like I'm weird.
So what out of the ordinary things have you guys tried? Anybody tried Rocky Mountain Oysters?

I like to eat weird shit too. Honestly, people who don't kind of piss me off a little. I don't openly tell them this though, I just keep eating. I have never had Rocky Mountain Oysters...and that's probably where I would draw the line. I'd eat human first. Don't know why but the idea of cow balls bursting in my mouth creeps out even me.
One of the things I eat that some people find gross but I love is carpaccio.
But I'll try almost anything once...I've had alligator

Tonight that travel guy was having chicken of the trees, iguanas. I grew up eating all kinds of critters, rattlesnake, opossum, squirrel, and many others.
Balls around here are called calf fries, and they are on quite a few menus.

I've tried a few 'weird' foods in my day:
Tempeh - soy fermented with Rhizopus oligosporus fungi. Fermented shark - too much ammonia Pony - ok if it is not too old (gets tough) Natto - sticky beans aka stinky beans. Very healthy. Tastes like garbage.
All of these are either very weird, or normal. Depends on which culture you subscribe to.
Alligator and tofu were weird 20 years ago.

i have no problem trying new things and i actually rather enjoy it. however i am always hesitant bout things from the sea because i'm allergic to shrimp, crab and lobster, and lemme tell ya, feeling your esophagus swell and close to a frightening degree while being violently nauseas is not something i like enduring too often.

Ive had most stuff out of the sea ppl think are gross (urchines/eel/octapus/squid/raw lobster/raw clams/raw oysters/conch) I am willing to eat almost anything from the water. I am interested in the horse sashimi (although I love horses, so I am torn) I want to try fugu - but i hear it is very plain, and is more of a "touristy thing" because of my culture, I woulnt not be intersting in domesticated western animals, or monkeys of any kind. Has anyone here had roo tail or ostrich?

raw fish, snails, and frogs, that kinda stuff aren't really that exotic. maybe if you live out in the midwest or rural area or something its probably finally gotten over there 10-20 years later.
sickass foods I've eaten are blow fish, raw meat mixed with raw egg (yukke), cow heart, cow and pig intestine, tongue, livers of all kinds, huge fish eyeballs and eyesockets, live shrimp while they are still wiggling, crab brains (its the best part you guys are missing out), shark fin, raw sea urchin, turtle blood soup, raw horse sashimi, whale meat, etc...
I really want to try human brains one day. apparently you can contract some weird-ass mufuckin disease, like bovine encephalotherapy, but another viral form like that, from it. but ive had 2 friends go to africa and order a human killed to eat (apparently shit goes down in africa just like that, lol). they actually said it wasnt tasty. well, okay, for the sake of this conversation lets just pretend i dont really know these people okay.

Oh yeah, I wasn't trying to suggest that anything I listed was REALLY exotic or anything. I know it's not. I just thought it would be interesting to hear from everybody else on here. You gotta give me a break. I'm in smalltown upstate new york. The really good shit doesn't make it's way here.
But yeah, there's a lot of different things that I would be game for. I think I'd have to draw the line at human brains though, that and domesticated animals other than livestock (read dog).
That's some crazy shit though Crystal. I think I'd pretend to not know those people too. Kinda sounds like Hostel but with a cannibalistic twist.

oh no, i wasnt trying to give you shit or anything. i understand what you mean about different societies considering ordinary items to be exotic. like i have never tried deer meat, but im sure in redneck areas they've hunted that shit for game and have had it for dinner many times. that would be pretty new to me... ive never eaten bugs too, like canadians have. africans do too.
i know NYC has created some wickedass shit (i think that where froglegs originated from), but small towns are always a different story. NYC always is creating the most eccentric eating styles and habits though; theres always a pretentious flavor added to it too haha. sorry to have been rude. i spent too much time in otd lol
i think a lot of the food that i have eaten though, originated from poor countries, who basically started eating the whole animal so as not to waste it (native americans, amazon, africa, vietnam, etc).
some of it is gourmet though and VERY expensive--like the horse sashimi for 1 pound might be $100, and it comes very bloody and juicy, but that is what makes it so soooo delicious. the most expensive steak i ever had was real kobe beef, in Kobe, Japan... the small portion of steak was $500 alone.... seriously......... but real Kobe beef is soooo soft you can actually cut it with chopsticks, and it melts in your mouth like cotton candy when you eat it. and the cheapest shark fin you will ever find will be $40/bowl for halfway-decent stuff.
its like caviar, im not even really sure what makes it so expensive--i mean i understand that they use the finest ingredients in the world--but come on, no food THAT DOESNT EVEN FILL YOU UP should be worth over $100 per person lol
its good to see you are open minded about the food though even though you live in small town USA.

fugu (blowfish) is pretty safe to eat now though, if you go to a decent restaurant. anybody who cooks blowfish is required to get training and licensing so they can tell which parts of the fish are poisoning and which parts to discard.
statistically, only about 2 people die every year from blowfish toxicity nowadays (though there might be dozens who get sick). before it used to be in the thousands though, crazy shit.
Generally though, although I love love love to eat meat (I'm hypoglycemic so I have to intake lots of protein, I dislike sweets of any kind), I try to abstain from ordering meats from cheap places... because animal slaughter is really terrible in countries everywhere, and I read about how when an animal is slaughtered cruelly, it makes their meat tense when they die, so the steak is hard to cut and it really cheapens the quality of the meat.
THIS VIDEO IS VERY GRAPHIC MATERIAL AND FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPPOSES ONLY VIEW AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION NSFW
This is the reason I prefer Japan's beef over American beef. American beef is the most inexpensive here probably for so many reasons (see video above, cheapens the beef quality it really does)... Can rarely eat Japanese beef though, cause of price, unless somebody takes me out on a date
Also, if you order liver, you have to get it from a very nice restaurant too, not cheap liver... because if you think about it, your liver is what filters out all the toxins in your body. So if the animal has been fed a lot of hormones and nasty ass chemicals, that is what you are going to be tasting. You need an animal that has been treated and fed well with all-natural products.

Wow! That video wasn't too horrible until the end part where the guy kicks blood in it's face. That's pretty fucking disgusting. I mean, that's like adding insult to injury right there. Almost makes me want to go veg. myself but, yeah, not quite.
I have tried deer meat once. It's good but definitely not the most tender. Kobe beef sounds delicious. I would love to try that sometime.

You know, you should really go travel the world sometime, to different asian, european, and south american countries... not party places but just like, places that are eccentric and rich in history. i really get the feeling you are the type of guy that would like that.
In Africa they slice open an artery in the neck (not enough to kill the animal), but for enough to spurt out and drink it as soup. I have heard it's pretty good though, but its more commonly given to children!
as for not eating dogs, thats a good policy, not particularly because of societal bias or anything, but because of the way they are so brutally killed in korea and china. china especially is one of the worst, they skin them alive and if you watch the torture itself you will just puke.
(another graphic video, the first minute is THE WORST)
in the US though, believe it or not, "humane" animal shelters kill stray dogs and cats heartlessly, on a daily basis too. we simply dont use it for meat afterwards. why? its just our culture difference.
I'd try dog/cat meat once, just for the sake of trying it if i came across it. but until the killing process gets better, its not something i would have regularly. i heard they eat rats too in china... probably has to do with the whole not wanting to waste animals concept they have over there...
I'm fully convinced people who slaughter animals that way though are full on sociopaths. devoid of feeling, emotion.
sorry i went off on a tangent. exotic foods is an interesting topic to me.

Yeah, cuz you know, everyone can afford to just travel to exotic places and eat tiny $500 steaks and still have expendable cash for ridiculous drug habits.
lines, drinks and cab fare are my absolute MINIMUM every night i'm not working bro. That shit isn't anything special.
Chugging bottles of Grey Goose and blowing lines of coke while a security guard holds my line for me is lucrative. What you described is my regular Tuesday night.

I wasn't saying he should go globe-hopping; he said he was from small-town in america which means chances are, he doesnt have much money.
what i meant is, if he is interested in that kind of thing, he should look for school/work/career that allows him to travel globally. international business is an obvious one. computer programming is another, if you like asia. or he can work his ass off for a couple years, and save up money to travel to an area he wants to go for a little bit. Especially if he visits a 3rd world country, lots to learn and very inexpensive.
This is what I do when I want to travel; truth be told, I'm a cheap ass and don't waste it on frugal shit like $200 meals. That is fucking ridiculous to me and I can't afford that.
I just happen to be friends with a lot of rich people--millionaires really--that frequently take me out to dinner. I am also friends with extremely poor people. old people and young people. I like to keep the variety of my friends diverse, so that my surroundings are always filled with contrasting perspectives. that is what mind expansion is all about.
really though, I haven't traveled to an exotic place in a while. unless you count australia LOL. doesnt count though cause i didnt visit the outback/jungle. me being in japan/america is no big deal, considering i have permanent residence in both states, both are just like a 2nd home to me, not an exotic vacation. im trying to get my shit together.

IR is big, teaching English is big. You can go almost anywhere and teach English. My buddies all over the world do that. My friends in China make more money then most of the people do, just teaching business people English.

What's funny is that it took me about 2 minutes to find those gems.
For someone who obviously isn't THAT stupid (based solely on the fact that you can compose coherent sentences) you sure seem to enjoy presenting multiple types of personalities depending on the forum where it would be most acceptable. ODD threads aren't very popular unless they're about some over the top drug story, OTD is similar in the over-the-top sense (plus having links to all your photos/vids in your signature helps stave off being ridiculed as another UncleLuke clone since so many people on the internet are guys who let stupidity slide if you're "hot"), and the Pub seems to favor pseudo-intellectualism..
Looks like you've got this sort of thing down after having been banned from every other drug forum of which you've been a member.

I get irked when people get pissed about someone who eats dog.
I love dogs myself, but I'm not going to get pissed because of "cultural brainwashing" that causes some AMERICAN to lash out at Ping Ling because he enjoys Poodle Sausage.
Hell, some cultures are weirded out because we eat corn. Same thing. It's all good food I'm sure, AnimalPlanet is a fucking menu.

I ate me some guinea pig.
Yaguarlocro = potato soup with lambs blood in it.
Guatita = Cow intestines with coagulated cow blood.
Caldo de Salchicha = Soup made with pig 's intestines and blood.
Chicha = drink made of some plant that the indians chew it and spit back to a container, where you drink from.
I dont remember the name of that dish but has bull balls. Tasty.
I went to this town and they had caldo de tronquito, a soup made of the schlong of the bull or was it a horse. I can't remeber of anything else . Including the hearts, livers, lungs fo some animals.

Yeah, I've been out of the country a few times. Been to Austria and the Bahamas. Both were before I was 15 though and I'm 25 now. Just haven't done much travelling in recent years. I'd like to start again sometime though. Always wanted to visit Australia since I was a little kid.

I just had an afterthought.
I bet a lot of people would order Bichon Frise if they saw it on a menu. Just put it in there under Steak.

I tried a few odd things, mostly when I lived in Australia. Sea turtle was tasty. Sea urchins (grabbed it fresh off the reef myself) was not so tasty. Ate the eye of a spit-roasted pig on a dare. Probably the most rare/odd thing I ate was a dugong (the South Pacific equivalent of the manatee).
I'll try just about anything once. The way I see it, if someone else eats it and enjoys it then its not gonna hurt me.

there was a show called Globe Trekker - I watched all the time - this chap Ian something would go all over and try the local food. There is a small tribe of Innuit that eat seal shit mixed with water on the New year - It is mixed with water and fat (I think) and made into a paste, then each member of the family has a lick. Ian tried it - then I think he puked on he floor - they cut the shot, and came back to him wiping his mouth and gagging.

The whole multiple personality thing, just FYI: I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia and have been institutionalized because of it.
It doesn't make sense to me why you would post threads that I generated in an attempt to embarrass me. Because if I were that ashamed about it, obviously I wouldn't have posted it in the first place. Yea, I like to do a lot of drugs. Yea, I take risks. That's what I do, lmao. I probably post in different personalities, or rather "mindwaves," as I do, depending on the state that I am in.
Have you considered: maybe nobody's really looking at my myspace, youtube, and site pics/video with real interest, and you're the only one so riled up over them for no reason, because you're the type of person looking for a reason to hate virtually anything. Damn, I must consume so much time and energy of yours for you to feel so passionate about me LOL. Well... you're an astute little member of society, so keep paving the way for us all my lad LOLOLOOLOLOOL
Also I love how anybody who can form coherent sentences automatically gets the "pseudo-intellectual" label, in your book. LMFAO!!!!! Fuck, go read a book.
And today, I'm loaded on tranquilizers so that's where I stop.

I'm a fan of exotic meats and other such things. Sushi is always good (except urchin, bleh) frog legs are awesome, aligator is awesome, rattlesnake is awesome if its prepared right. I've had a few times bad and a few times good now. All sorts of waterfowl and grazers like deer and elf and buffalo are good. Bear was 'ok' Bit tough and really gamey. Shark is excellent, especially smoked, Sting ray can be good if prepared properly. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head but I know I've eaten other more exotic things. Fuck now I'm hungry.

I used to hate sea urchin too, mainly because when I put it in my mouth it would have this bitter, rotten taste and texture that would remind me of a log of shit.
But then I had a sea urchin that was FRESHLY KILLED and sliced open... its spikes were literally still wobbling around, and it was absolutely delicious. None of that tangy taste that it normally has to it; I swear that bitter taste is either a result of some kind of metabolic rigor-mortis type reaction in the urchin setting in.
So, if you ever go to a sushi restaurant and see LIVE SEA URCHIN on the menu, grab it!

Its the combination of the flavor but mostly the texture that kills me. I am not a fan of slimeballs.
My general rule with shellfish and similar things is cooked (lightly is fine) or smoked.
