Inactive panaeolus at top, probably campanulatus. Boletus species at bottom also inactive, the blusih/greenish bruise is normal in this species and it's not a psilocybin indicator in this case.

Peace,

I agree, don't eat them. You'll get nothing but stomach upset.

The Boletes that turn blue-green are very poisonous. Another species is Boletus satanicus. Please avaoid all blue green boletes. Theydo not have gills and should be avoided.

I have logged in this once so that I can set the "last seen" feature up.  let the faggots flow forth into OTD and have it.  Its funny how they all grew nuts after I left.  I'm not here, I'm not reading, but I urge you all to keep melting down over me.  I know, I hurt alot of people, and they deserved it.  epic win for me, epic fail for you.

ythan, you rock dude.  i feel that my time at the shroomery was very positive and enjoyable, but this site is no longer for me. im not mad or upset or disappointed, i just want no part in a pg rated faggot festival.

"The Boletes that turn blue-green are very poisonous. Another species is Boletus satanicus. Please avaoid all blue green boletes. Theydo not have gills and should be avoided."

Allthough I deeply respect you, and all of your invaluable knowledge and everything you have contrubited to the shroomery MJ, this statement is also not correct.

In fact most boletes that bruise green/blue are edible, and I have eaten many. There area few boletes that are poisonous, but very few compared to the edible variates. The boletes that I would watch out for are the red pored varieties, some are poisonous. These usually stain indigo.

Of course before eating any mushroom, it is very important to positively ID it...buy a good guide book, cross reference with the Internet, read the posts here...and stay alive.

Cheers

NiGGy, that's one of the hardest things about picking edible bolettes in the wild, almost all of the ones i find are infested with weevils(sp?) of larvae.

The mushroom on the picture has yellow pores and it's probably Xerocomus rubellus
http://www.grzyby.pl/gatunki/Xerocomus_rubellus.htm

Boletus satanas has red pores.
http://www.mykoweb.com/CAF/species/Boletus_satanas.html
To my knowledge only Boletus satanas and Boletus lupinus
http://www.assfor.it/funghi/boletus_lupinus.htm
are considered poisonous. But they have also very bitter taste so it's hard to eat them anyway. Boletes are one of the most safe mushrooms to pick. The rule is simple: if it has pores and does not taste bitter then it is edible.
Even this two species are not deadly poisonous but just cause intestinal problems. Analysis haven't found any poisonous compounds in them and they are probably just hard to digest.

For the little ones, you need to start with getting a spore print.

For the boletes I have 2 questions. Is the cap surface dry? How quickly do they bruise blue?

If the cap surface is dry and the mushroom bruises blue slowly (not instantaneously) then they appear to be Boletus bicolor, a common choice edible mushroom on the east coast of the US in pine and oak forest regions. (Boletes are mycorrhizal, so they require a higher plant host. What kinds of trees are near where they were found?)

If the cuticle is dry and they bruise blue quickly (immediately) then they are likely to be Boletus sensibilis, a species which has been reported as being poisonous, causing the usual vomiting and such.

If you really want to know what they are, get yourself some books and start studying. Join your local mycological society, where there are some real experts who can identify your find and (more importantly) tell you how to tell yourself next time.

Happy mushrooming!
