Xylene over naptha?

Hi, was woundering. I read a mescaline tek that uses Xylene over Naptha. I know Xylene is much more powerful then Naptha. So would it be better to use Xylene over Naptha in DMT extractions? It serves the same purpose in extraction teks, right?

I know the reason for using Xylene over Natpha in the mescaline extraction is due to the free pi orbitals which are open for attack in methylbenzene (Xylenes).
The alkaloids are salted from the solvent.

In the mescaline extractions, I usually see the free base form being abducted by the xylene; whereas in DMT extractions, you NEED to defat the plant matter first, THEN basify/acidify.

I'm a newb at orgo tho so u might want to wait for some1 more seasoned to shed light on it, but that's what I think from reading the guides.

So mescaline extraction GO XYLENES.
DMT Naptha is fine and cheap for simple defatting.

BTW: For an Indicator- I suggest boiling Red Cabbage.
It has a full spectrum of pH 1-12 :-) and only cost $3.00 for a whole head
