Yeh that video doesn't really bring up any good points

They are just tricking people into signing something, its not about them "following" the crowd. Thinking, oh hey ill be cool if i ban WATER.

These people think they are actually doing something to help the environment...and Pen and Teller think they are being DAMN clever by wrongfully adding prefixes to chemical compounds to make these people look stupid.

its kinda sad that the common person would think "damn those fucking hippie pieces of shit are fuckinG STUPID for signing a petition to ban water". Without realized that the majority of the world wouldn't know what dihydrogen monoxide truely is.

If they would have been honest and said H20, no one would have signed it

No, they are just in the mood to join a cause, and think it'll be cool to ban SOMETHING. Great mindset.

Its not like people were banding together and starting a BAN WATER revolution during that festival

They were presented facts about a supposedly harmful toxin thats getting in our water and food supply

Who in their right mind WOULDN'T sign it?

Just because people don't know what dihydrogen monoxide is doesn't make them stupid, it makes them responsible for trying to ban something they thought was harmfull

Penn & Teller were telling them that it was deadly in many ways--I mean, they techgnically weren't telling them, but they were cleverly making it seem like that was the case. Do you expect people to just go "I don't believe you--this is a trick", or "Hey wait a minute, you're not saying it causes these things you're just associating it with these things"? Gimme a break.

Oh, and Penn, during his intro, claims "She'snot gonna stretch the truth", but the entire thing is deceitful--te nature of it is deceitful. That show is full of so much bias and bullshit.

When people give me an "this organic rap" I usually ask what the hell organic means to them. A lot of them would say "I guess without pesticides" Then I go, "So what about genetically altered?"

Anyhow, I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'm sure the whole Monoxide at the end of Dihydrogen Monoxide probably made people think of carbon monoxide.

Monoxide itself just sounds like a bad word.

yes, it is deceitful. just as i'm sure many of those things that people want you to sign are. they're only presenting you with one side of it. they don't usually show you the other side. if you sign something to ban something or whatever, then get home and research it, and find out that while it does do some bad, there could be a lot more good that it does than bad.

whenever i'm presented with something like that, i'll listen to what they have to say, and if it's something i am already informed about and agree with then i'll sign it. but if they're talking about something that i have no idea about, i'll listen, and if it peaks my interest then i'll look into it farther. i won't just sign it on the spot.
