flashlights produce incandescent light, which does not contain the full spectrum that mushrooms need to induce pinning. sunlight or full spectrum bulbs are the only things that will work, basically. however, if there is enough sunglight for you to see the cakes ever, there will not be any problems. if they're in a place that is truly unreachable by sunlight, then you'll have to set up a full spectrum bulb, which can probably be bought at a gardening shop or something like that.

Unfortunately, a flashlight won't work... how convenient it would be if it did!!! He's right thought, if there's enough light to see 'em, then they should pin. Just try to get as much light in as possible. Happy Harvests

400-800 lux and 380-480 nanometers are the specific light requirements for Stropharia Cubensis. You will find that a daylight flourescent (6500 Kelvin) will work as well as any light source. This also has the advantage of being cheap, both buying and energy wise, and also for not adding much heat to influence your already maintained temperatures.
