How about the hi-fi murders in Ogden Utah in the 70's. Forcing someone to drink draino right before they killed them, and how about all the killers that raped people before they ate thier bodies?

That shit has all been done before.

How often does someone attach a bomb to someone's neck?

ONCE.

Normally I disagree with 90% of the decisions that cops make.  But in this case...I mean come on, would you have believed it?

"I'm robbing a bank with a gun and a bomb around my neck, but it's not my fault!"  There's no way a sane person could be expected to believe that right off the bat without asking some questions first.

Why wouldnt they give him the benefit of the doubt!! seriously do you think someone would readily subject themselves to bomb around the neck? I think not!!! If I were the leos I would have acted sooner to try and help him instead they stood around with their thumbs up their asses!!!! And let dude blow up!!!

Wow....I feel so bad for the guy. Did you hear him asking the cops if they called his boss? My job would be the last thing on my mind at a time like that... And i wouldn't just be sitting there, either. I dont care what it takes, I'd get the cops to call a bomb squad. I know it sounds silly, but running around screaming would have probably helped...

This is really sad, in my opinion.

I think they called the guy's boss so he could confirm his story. The guy was trying to save his own life, he wasn't thinking about his job.

Actually I know of a similar case that happens decades ago. Someone rich had a belt put on him with a strange mechanical device. The device was attached to a steel wire around his neck, and as time passed it slowly drew in the wire, tighening the noose further. With this thing under his coat the guy was made to enter his bank and withdraw his money from his own account.

I don't remember all the details but its weird shit like this you remember.

As for the original case: That is totally fucked up. There is no reason whatsoever for that bomb to have been real. A mock bomb would've have the same compliance effect without the need for killing (and adding homicide to the offenses list) That it was real to me means that the plan probably was to take the loot and then have the poor guy explode anyway.

I just think some people are just straight up evil, and they dont care about a human life, as long as they get what they want.

You're right, take a look at this description, which fits about 1-4 in every 100 people:

Quote:
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-IV, currently DSM-IV-TR), a widely used manual for diagnosing mental and behavioral disorders, defines antisocial personality disorder as a pervasive pattern of disregard for and violation of the rights of others occurring since age 15, as indicated by three (or more) of the following:
.
1. failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors as indicated by repeatedly performing acts that are grounds for arrest
2. deceitfulness, as indicated by repeated lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure
3. impulsivity or failure to plan ahead
4. irritability and aggressiveness, as indicated by repeated physical fights or assaults
5. reckless disregard for safety of self or others
6. consistent irresponsibility, as indicated by repeated failure to sustain steady work or honor financial obligations
7. lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another

Form a picture of a person who is like this, at all times. If you take away the academic political correctness, this is actually a clinical description of people we up to a century ago would've called Evil.

It was these people who set up the concentration camps, and threw live babies in the crematorium ovens for amusement. It is these people who commit most chronic violent crime. Terrorizing their collegues at work, being a complete ass in the pub, beating their wife and kids at home.

Most of the things that makes one wonder "how can a human being do such a thing?" aren't really committed by human beings, but by psychopaths, a predator on the human species. Specific intent to do evil. Delighting in the suffering of others. No conscience, no remorse.

Like we on a reasonable day are filled with benignness, they are filled with incomprehensible hate as their natural state. Most are merely assholes, but all feel a pull towards increasing negative behaviors.

We live in a time of Science, but in the era of Religion the label "Evil" covered it pretty accurately.

# Deliveryman Brian Wells died in 2003 after bomb attached to neck exploded
# He claimed gunmen locked the bomb around his neck, ordered him to rob bank
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Brian Wells, the Pennsylvania pizza deliveryman who died when a bomb attached to his neck detonated, was involved in the plot that took his life, two sources with knowledge of the investigation said.

Charges against two other persons allegedly involved in the case were expected be announced at a Wednesday news conference, sources said.

Wells died August 28, 2003, in Erie, Pennsylvania, after he claimed gunmen had grabbed him, locked the bomb around his neck and ordered him to rob a bank. After the robbery, he was detained, sat on the pavement and recounted the story to police. A bomb squad was called, but the device exploded before the squad arrived.

Two sources said one of the individuals who will be indicted is Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong, who has been linked to the case for years. Investigators have said the body of her boyfriend was found in a freezer in a home close to where Wells made his final delivery.

Diehl-Armstrong is in prison after pleading guilty but mentally ill in the murder of her boyfriend.

One of the sources said the other person expected to be charged is Kenneth Barnes, whom the source described as a fishing buddy of Wells.

One source said that the two people "are expected to be charged with conspiracy to commit bank robbery and using a firearm in connection with commission of a crime."

The U.S. attorney, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the FBI have scheduled a news conference Wednesday afternoon "to announce a major development in the investigation," according to a press advisory.

The U.S. attorney's office and law enforcement agencies involved refused to comment because the case is still under seal.

Earlier this week, Diehl-Armstrong's lawyer, public defender Thomas Patton, asked a judge to issue a gag order preventing a public news conference to announce the charges.

He argued extensive media coverage would be damaging to his client's case. The attorney's motion said "it is anticipated that an indictment will be forthcoming shortly." He said in his court motion his client had been questioned in connection with the case.

Neither Patton nor Diehl-Armstrong's personal attorney, Lawrence D'Ambrosio, returned calls for comment. D'Ambrosio said that Diehl-Armstrong is not guilty, according to The Associated Press.

D'Ambrosio said Diehl-Armstrong may have been acquainted with some of the people involved in the case but did not know Wells or plan his death, AP reported.

Quote:
Normal people actually have abnormal, sometimes sick and twisted thoughts, but what makes the difference between someone who is "moral" and a sociopath is, acting out on it.

With sociopaths the abnormal is the norm, their baseline state is one which is radically different from the other 98% of the population in a way which is very defined and uniform.

Simple example: only sociopaths can get away with murder in their minds, the 98% majority of people may kill someone under certain circumstances, but their conscience haunts them for it afterwards for years to come. The majority of people in an intensive war scenario will acquire all sorts of mental illness like post-traumatic stress disorder and the like. Not so with sociopaths, who might even thrive under such circumstances.

There are all sorts of nuances, like whether the social unpleasantness is successfully held back, whether it is verbal only, or whether it is fully violent.

Quote:
people who have brain damage to the area responsible for inhibition, sometimes start to act out and do things that people would not normally do.

One of the big differences between sociopaths and the majority of people is that when they "let go" and "give in", the majority does all sorts of things but the sociopath will be overwhelmed by an urge to hurt and destroy. This is no fault of their own, but the pre-conscious inclination is, well, "Evil". For a sociopath, control serves to hold back the hate. This isn't the case with the majority, most of the majority hold back their fears or moods.

Quote:
what makes the difference between someone who is "moral" and a sociopath is, acting out on it.

Let's say there was a murder. On the whole, someone who's "moral" is more accountable for the crime because more inner boundaries were crossed. A sociopath has the mitigating circumstance that he is naturally inclined to malice, but is damned by the fact that this condition so far has proven untreatable and chronic.

The worst sociopaths, as proven by diagnosis and criminal record, should never be released into society. That would be like putting a famished fox in a chicken coop.

Someone who is inclined to victimizing people and animals and manages to live his life without giving in to this urge in my view has shown great strength of character, regardless of his motives to do so. Someone who goes through life victimizing left and right, well, to quote the Red Queen: "off with their heads" :smirk:
