Re: 'sevivorman' vs 'man vs wild' [Re: Yoschie99]

You have to remember IMO to take what the show is intended to show you. Survivorman is all about proper and true survival, but at the same time, because of the massive risk and danger he is already in, he cant show you shit like 'this is how you escape quicksand' and jump right into it. The piont of survivorman is to teach you the proper way to survive should you be stranded with near nothing.

Man vs Wild is more to show you wierd situations you might be stuck in, things where you might already be injured or in a wierd spot, like stuck in quicksand as an easy example, and how to escape them. He does all the extra stupid and crazy shit specifically because he can do it to teach you the proper way to go about it IF YOU HAVE TO, due to his saftey net of a crew.

Both guys are pretty hardcore though. Even the camera guy (sometimes 2 guys) for bear are hardcore and they dont interact with him unless its life or death.

But yeah, as far as which one is cooler, I'd go with Les. But I'd bet both are hardcore enough to survive on their own without shit for help if required to.

I like both shows. Gryls does some crazy bad ass shit BECAUSE he's got a crew, but Survivorman is cool as fuck cause he's by himself. Did ya'll see that thing he did with cotton sock lint? My boyfriend tried it out and it worked pretty well.
I think the camera crews are pretty awesome to be able to keep up with Gryls when he's being crazy. Like, say, scaling a 300 ft cliff without ropes.
