anybody growing mint ?

few things more refreshing on a hot summer day than a freshly made jug of mint tea :smile:

we currently have three mint plants, two different spearmind specimens and one "mountainmint",
they are very low maintenance and each tastes simply great !

the spearmints that most of you guys will know, notice how different they grow !


and the awesome mountainmint !


the mountainmint (i dont know its exact name) was given to my by my gf, it originally grew in a
rather cold climate but absolutely seems to love its new home !

its funny to see how much  more bushier it is than the spearmint and overall, those two plants
dont look that much alike at all dont you think ?

also the mountainmint has got a more spicey smell to it which also transports in the tea,
it clearly is my favorite and i think they dont even sell that kind in the stores !

any of you guys dig mint as much as i do ? gosh that homegrown 's way better than the shit they deal, heh :smirk:

I've always had mint growing in my backyard since a child (the folks' plant). I always grab a handful if I get a cold or some such thing, real delicious stuff. It's a nice little plant so I'll throw up a picture later.

i grow mint on the Window board....acutally my parents grow it.:biggrin:
it is spearmint i guess.
i will show you some pics soon.

i would love to grow mountainmint.sounds interesting...
do you have a seedling or seeds for me? :tongue2:

i got some kind of spearmint hybrid growing, citrus mint, chocolate mint, and some lemon mint seedlings. i too love this plant! i use it to edge my raised beds. problem is they can become invasive. just means more tea!

Mint is awesome:thumbup:. I've got spearmint, peppermint, and chocolate mint. I want to get more, regular old mint, and then some other varieties as well.

That mountain mint sounds interesting, would you be interested in trading rooted cuttings? If so, I've got more herbs than just the mint I mentioned. Just pm me if you are and I'll tell you what I got.

google images gave me a remarable resemblance to what i grow as "spearmint" !

The chocolate mint is really good, nice and strong with a very potent aroma, especially dried and crushed.

I actually thought of my chocolate mint when I saw the pictures of your spearmint. My spearmint looks a little different, the leaves are more curled, and they have almost like a really fine fuzzy coating, where as yours are glossy. The stems aren't dark like yours either. A different strain I'm sure.

If you plant it in the ground it will spread like wildfire. I have to mow allot of mint down.

Looks good and healthy to me:cool:. Not sure what kind that is, looks like it could be just regular mint, or perhaps peppermint. My guess is regular mint.

my girl studies biology and she originally gave me the mint as it has "cooling effects" on the body,
gotta say thats totally right. im drinking a biiiiiiiiiig jug of mint tea during the day
and the hot weather doesnt seem to be that taxing on my system anymore :wink:
