I don't believe anywhere in my lifetime my tax dollars have gone towards the overthrowing of a liberal nation. Or am I now responsible not only for the things that are out of my control, but happened before I was born?

Iraq does not fit into your argument without the scope change you are attempting right now. Iraq and "liberal democracy" have absolutely nothing in common.

You brought up 'liberal nation' & 'liberal democracy', not me. I was talking about womens' rights... the two are not always synonomous.

You can refuse to admit that the status & rights of women in Iraq under Saddam Hussein was far better than that of women in, say, Saudi Arabia... or that the status & rights of women has worsened considerably since the illegal U.S. invasion & occupation... & that your tax dollars are involved in both situations... but that doesn't diminish that both are true.

Presently, they are less able to do so as American popularity & influence in the world is diminshing... as evidenced by attempting to do an old-fashioned coup in Venezuela a few years ago, but failing.

While not democratically-elected (because progressive movements/leaders don't always have that possiblility of assuming power), Mossedegh's reforms had poplar support... as anyone who lived in Iran could understand very easily. he was a rallying figure for many of the students involved in the events of 1979, but the hardliners who seized power quickly removed his prestigious place in society & Iranian history due to his strong secularism.
