Meanwhile in the United States, we've put mentally handicapped people to death, imprisoned people based on race and political opinion, framed innocent people for crimes and then put them to death, gone to war on more than one occasion on lies and deceit. I'm sorry but I really couldn't give a fuck what goes on in Iran, especially considering the modern political implications of the world we live in and the attention given to reports like this. Things like this happen daily all over the world, and probably in places closer to you and I than in Iran. So why is this important and why should I care? You can go about this in the touchy feely fashionable modern way of saying that every life is precious (which is usually just a cover for a political agenda) but life is cheap and it always has been. There's more than enough problems in the world and the customs and practices and laws of a different culture than ours doesn't really matter to me.

That comes off as jaded and bitter and very "American" but the simple fact of the matter is that I simply do not trust my culture or society enough to form an opinion. Do I think it's fucked up? Yeah, of course I do... any rational person would. However, there still is a clear set of rules and laws over there and this person violated them. So this is on her. However, if I let this bother me and if I form an opinion and if I get mad, then it'd would be easy to manipulate me or get me to act or put my support behind something that isn't right or just. I mean should I as an American advocate going to war or invading Iran or somehow economically or politically punishing Iran for this? Of course not, so what's the point?

I'm making a point that cultures are fucked no matter where you go, and that members of this society shouldn't feel superior when commenting upon another society. I was also trying to say that I'm a hell of a lot more concerned what goes on in my own country than what's going on in Iran. Especially considering how little attention is given to our atrocities and how much attention is given to Iran's or other "Axis of Evil" countries atrocities. I feel like it's all manipulation and magic tricks. Get mad about a country we're having problems with, get angry about a culture that's different that ours, be afraid of the way we're presenting the world to you... but don't look at the other hand or in your own backyards.

This person broke the law under which she is a citizen, and she will get the punishment that culture deems justified. If the majority of citizens of that society didn't like it, they would revolt and overthrow it just like the did in 1979. I as American am not going to tell an Iranian how to live or pass judgment.

Your criteria for ignorance stunningly coincides with those who do not accept your dogma. What a surprise that you are similar to those you would defend. I am way smarter, way more widely read and much better looking than you, yet I believe those things you cite as signs of ignorance to be true.
