I believe you are talking about rock-wool correct? I've never used it in mushroom cultivation but you do have to soak it as far as I know. Maybe someone else can broaden this topic a little more.

Hello,

I use gro-brick all the time. What you will need to do is break it up or take off a chunk, and stick it in some water. The coco will absorb quite a bit of water. Just keep breaking it up and mixing to get the right consistancy. You should be able to squeeze a little bit of water out.

Yes you can use it for top and bottom.
