Neither. Vermiculite can be found and garden supply stores. It looks kinda brown and shiny like mica. Its used to retain moisture. Perlite is a white, absorbant, volcanic rock that also retains moisture. Both are garden products, so look at like homedepot maybe.

Nurseries or big plant stores will have them..

True Value Hardware has them, cheaper than anywhere in big bags.

Walmart no longer carries these items because they are out of season. Try a store dedicated to gardening or possibly a hardware store. Good luck.

You can score Vermiculite at Lowes, the home and garden store.

Big home improvement stores, gardening stores, indoor gardening stores... you might have to call around a bit now that they're out of season.
