Well for anyone who has ever picked carpophores of any sort you know that if you want to get the entire fruitbody out intact that you should gently grasp the base of the mushroom with your thumb and first to fingers of either hand depending on wether you are left or right handed. if you can use both of your hands equally well then you can pick two mushrooms at one time he he he. just firmly but gently gran the base of the mushrooms and gently wiggle it and i mean gently in a second it will become loss and you can gently extract it from its mother spawn lol. try it.

Also, you might want to sprinkle a little casing mix over the spot you just picked the shroom from.
