I had 12 jars in a small rubbermaid floating in a bigger rubbermaid with a fish tank heater. The water was at a constant 80 degrees. My heater broke so I took the small rubbermaid out and put a heating pad underneath. Growth slowed to a crawl and I gave up on them. I checked on them one month later and I had 2 contams, 8 dried out jars, and 2 winners. Next time I will buy a quality fish tank heater.

I put my jars on a small towel in the bottom of a rubbermaid container. Under the container I have a small heating pad which stays on low for 24 hours. The temp is pretty much always around 85F.

I always put my jars back in the box and incubate at room temp. 70-75. 2-3 weeks they are done everytime.

If you live in a cold place though you need an incubator.
